Florida Gators recruiting visitors list for January 26th

It’s scheduled to be a big weekend in Gainesville as the Florida Gators will host their second official visit weekend of the new year this weekend and will host several big time prospects.

Dan Mullen and his staff had a big weekend last weekend and gained a commitment from athlete Justin Watkins while on his official visit.

The Gators are scheduled to host four prospects this weekend on campus including one prospect committed to another school.

Here’s how the weekend visitors looks to play out.

Offensive linemen visiting

The Florida Gators will host two offensive linemen on campus this weekend as the Gators are hoping to sign three more in this class. The Gators already signed two guys during the early signing period so adding three more would make a really solid class for Florida.

Leading the way this weekend is one of the best in the country in offensive lineman Nick Petit-Frere who has kept his recruitment quiet for the most part. Petit-Frere visited Alabama this weekend and will go to Ohio State the following weekend. As recruitment draws to an end the Gators are quietly gaining some confidence as the draw to stay closer to home because more of a possibility.

The other offensive lineman visiting this weekend is a guy who has already committed to Dan Mullen once and that’s Mississippi State offensive line commit Griffin McDowell who picked up his offer from Florida on Thursday. McDowell visited Mississippi State last weekend and was thinking about cancelling all other visits but the Gators convinced him to visit this weekend. McDowell is a guy that can play either tackle positions.

Defensive lineman coming to town

The one position that the Gators are trying to land prospects at the most is on the defensive line and they will have two highly sough after guys on campus this weekend. This will be their first chance to sit down and really meet with new defensive line coach Sal Sunseri.

The Gators had to work hard to get defensive lineman Malcolm Lamar on campus this weekend but on Tuesday the Gators accomplished that feat. Lamar who many have pegged to Florida State is remaining open in his process. Tennessee and Florida also factors in his recruitment.

Last but certainly not least is defensive end Malik Langham who has seen his recruitment blow up since his senior year film hit the internet. Langham named Alabama his leader on Monday but the Gators are a team that has been on his mind a lot and a team that he has talked about wanting to visit for some time now.
