Family Affair – The Franks Brothers

The Franks brothers have dragged their mother and father all over the country this summer. In fact, their mother told Gator Country that she amassed over 15,000 miles on her new Toyota Prius over the past three months.

However, that is the sacrifice they are making for their two FBS-bound sons — 2014 WR/TE Jordan Franks and 2016 QB Feleipe Franks.

The two brothers, who play for Wakulla High School in Crawfordville (Fla.), came with two separate missions. Older brother Jordan, who has been hindered by a run-first offense, hoped to earn an offer from the Gators coaching staff, while Feleipe, whom has already earned an offer from Florida, was hoping to continue to impress the coaching staff.

Both players did well at Friday Night Lights, and both received words of affirmation. Older brother Jordan noted, “I talked to the tight ends coach (Derek Lewis) and he said that I did really well today. They really liked my route running.” Feleipe was able to impress coach Muschamp, “I talked to coach Muschamp and he told me that I did a really good job putting spin on the ball and that he was sorry that (offensive coordinator) coach Pease couldn’t be here today.”

Both Franks brothers agreed that the talent level was top-notch and it was good to compete against other good athletes. (Feleipe did make a side note that he was really impressed with 2014 Florida Gators commitment Will Grier.)

With Jordan going into his final season at Wakulla, this could be his last opportunity to play with Feleipe; something they have been doing for more than seven years. “We have been playing together since under-10 tackle football. He (Feleipe) was only seven, but he was bigger than most 10 year olds,” Jordan said as he laughed.  He continued, “I am really looking forward to him quarterbacking the team. We are passing a lot more this year. We threw 60-plus passes in the first three quarters of our last pre-season game, so we are going to be throwing it a lot more frequently.”

Jordan is going to be looking for Feleipe to get him the ball quite a bit this season and his offer list is contingent on it. “Everybody is waiting to see my stats, though. We were a really big running team last season, but this year is going to be different. My first three games are the one’s coaching staff’s are really going to be looking at me for. I really need to do well in those games to gain some big offers,” Jordan maintained. “Right now my best offer is Southern Mississippi, but I am really looking for an offer from Florida and Alabama, who both said they want to see my game film.” Jordan has said that he talks pretty frequently with tight ends coach Derek Lewis and that Florida likes him as a tight end.

Feleipe, whom is only entering his sophomore year, is not ready to make any decisions on his recruitment, but he is noticing Florida quite a bit. Feleipe noted, “My recruitment is still really young. I only have three offers right now – Florida, Clemson, and Jacksonville State. I wouldn’t say that any school leads right now, but the school with the most contact with me right now is Florida and the school I have been around the most is Florida. I talk a lot to coach Muschamp and coach Pease.” Feleipe, who is really trying to focus on the upcoming season did state, “I’m not looking to make any decisions too quick or too late. Right now, it looks like some time between my sophomore season and junior season.”

While both brothers would love to play together at the next level, right now they are simply focused on next season and their team’s football camp that started early Saturday morning.
