WCWS Photo Gallery: Gators vs. TAMU #1

OKLAHOMA CITY — Gator Country was the only Florida media outlet to have a photographer at the Women’s College World Series as the Gators’ made the first appearance in the program’s 12-year history. Here’s the fourth of five photo galleries, featuring 250 images you won’t find anywhere else.

The Gators survived a third consecutive elimination game, improving to 70-4 on the season. The 6-1 win over Texas A&M forced a rematch between the teams later in the day,

UF coach Tim Walton’s team added to its NCAA record for wins in a single season.

Francesca Enea’s home runs in the second and seventh innings gave the sophomore 17 on the season, tying UF’s single-season record. With three RBIs, Enea also added to her school single-season record for runs driven in with 64.

With the Gators leading 4-1 in the fourth, Florida freshman pitcher Stephanie Brombacher relieved starter Stacey Nelson for the sixth time this season. Brombacher was credited with the win, improving her record to 20-0 on the year. Aggies ace Megan Gibson lost for just the second time on the year against 40 wins.

Florida sophomore Corrie Brooks, junior Ali Gardiner and Enea each had two hits for the Gators, while Aja Paculba, Mary Ratliff each had one hit. Ratliff and Gardiner’s hits were doubles.
