UF women’s S&D wins it all

The University of Florida women’s swimming and diving team won their first ever Georgia Tech Invitational on Sunday with 1,196.5 points. They won four relay and four individual races over the weekend. Florida State followed with 1,031 points.

“We started the meet out strong Friday and continued with that same momentum throughout the weekend to clinch first,” head coach Gregg Troy said. “We had some good swims for the women throughout the weekend, and for this point in the season, I’m pleased with where we’re at right now.”

The squad was able to win an individual and relay race with five, top-three finishes on Sunday.

U.S. National Team members Elizabeth Beisel and Teresa Crippen both earned NCAA “B” cut times in two separate events. In the 200 back, Beisel picked up her second win of the meet with a time of 1:55.57, and Crippen earned third with a time of 1:57.10. In the 200 fly, Beisel was second with a time of 1:58.38, and Crippen was fourth, stopping the clock at 2:00.65.
