Two Gators advance to Track and Field World Championship Final

DAEGU, South Korea – Former University of Florida track and field competitors Will Claye and Christian Taylor both advanced to finals in the triple jump at the 2011 IAAF World Championships in Daegu. The final will be held on Sunday.

As for Claye, this will be his second final at the World Championships after finishing ninth in the long jump final with a leap of 8.08m/26-6.11 (+0.1) on Friday.

The two All-Americans and former NCAA Champions will compete for the gold on Sunday after qualifying for the final on Friday.

Claye took first in the qualifying round with a leap of 17.19m/56-4.77 (-0.4), advancing to the championship round. Taylor advanced with a jump of 16.99m/55-8.89 (+0.9), good for fifth in the qualifying round out of six total qualifiers.
