Revzina has big day in UNLV tournament

LAS VEGAS, Nev. – Senior Anastasia Revzina highlighted the first day of play for the Florida women’s tennis team in the eighth annual Freeman Memorial Championships at the Fertitta Tennis Complex.

Revzina won a pair of singles matches and one doubles match on the opening day in the three-day event.

“It wasn’t the greatest day from a win-loss standpoint, but the highlight of the day clearly was Anastasia Revzina,” Florida coach Roland Thornqvist said. “She played at about as a high level as she has ever played during her career. Overall, we’re hitting the ball really well, with good pace, which hopefully will translate into more wins later. We came up short in some spots, but we’re here to get matches under our belt and get better each day.”

Joining Revzina in the singles play are senior Marrit Boonstra, sophomore Claire Bartlett and freshman Caroline Hitimana.

The tournament continues today with doubles play and then two singles rounds.
