RECRUITING: Florida stands out for Ty Jones

One of the top running backs in the Tampa area this year is Middleton High School back Ty Jones. He updates us on his current leader, schools or interest, and unofficial visits to schools so far in the process.

The Florida coaching staff has had recent success at Middleton High, pulling in linebacker A.J. Jones two years ago. Though there is no relation between the two players, there is no reason to believe that the Middleton success will not continue.

Ty Jones had a solid junior year for the Middleton football team, rushing for over 1200 yards and scoring 13 touchdowns.

“Right now, I’d say I’m looking at Florida, Auburn, and Maryland,” Jones said.

Out of these three schools however, the 5-10, 215 pound running back says one stands out above the rest.

“I would say that Florida is currently my leader,” Jones said. “There’s a lot to like about that school.”

Jones claims that his other two schools of interest are in the same situation, and he is intrigued by the thought of visiting these schools.

“I’ve talked to Auburn and Maryland coaches and I really just don’t know much about them now,” Jones said. “It’ll be good to go up and see the schools and what they have to offer.”

The running back with 4.5 speed also knows what sets Florida apart as his top school.

“They’ve already offered me and I just love everything about them,” Jones said. “I came up for their Junior Day and got to go to the basketball game against Tennessee. I was just overly impressed by the school and how much everyone supports all the sports teams. I’ve gone to a camp at Florida too, so I know about the campus already.”

With the Gators set to take one or two running backs in this years recruiting class, it is safe to say that Ty Jones will be one of the most heavily recruited instate prospects at the position.
