Postin sets Florida record in hammer throw

ORLANDO – Redshirt freshman Jeremy Postin broke the Florida school record in the men’s hammer throw Friday in the opening day of the UCF Invitational. Postin’s victory was one of two event victories by the Gators.

Postin won the hammer throw with a toss of 196 feet, 6 inches. That was three inches better than the school record set by Paul Szawranskyi in 1996. Teammate David Triassi was third with a collegiate-best toss of 178 feet, 9 inches.

Freshman Max Lang picked up his first collegiate victory, winning the men’s pole vault with a collegiate-best effort of 15 feet, 6 inches. Teammate Eric Foran was second with a 15-foot vault.

Kaitlin Davis finished 18th in the women’s hammer throw with her effort of 95 feet, 10 inches.

The final day of the UCF Invitational begins Saturday at 9:30 a.m. at the UCF Track and Field Complex.
