Cross Country wins Mountain Invitational

Both the University of Florida Cross Country teams won their respective races in the Mountain Dew Invitational Friday night at the UF Golf Course. The Florida women won with 19 points, while the men were first with 15 points.

The Florida women took seven of the top 10 places. Senior Lindsay Sundell (Fort Salonga, N. Y.) was the first Gator finisher in second overall, as she placed just behind Sonja Friend-Juhl, a professional athlete. Sundell was just six seconds behind her career-best pace, finishing the 5K race in 17:41.88. Freshman Ali Crabb (St. Petersburg, Fla.) finished fourth overall and second for the Gators in her first collegiate cross country race with a time of 17:48.84, the eighth fastest time by a Gator on the UF Golf Course. The next four Gators crossed the finish line in order right behind Crabb. Freshman Rebecca Lowe (Vaucluse, New South Wales, Australia) finished in 18:10.19, junior Sara Petrick (Apollo Beach, Fla.) ran a 18:14.55. Freshman Hailey Neal

(Palm Beach Gardens, Fla) finished seventh with a time of 18:24.26 to round out the scoring five. Junior Jacy Kruzel (Cooper City, Fla.) finished sixth for the Gators and eighth overall with a time of

18:25.67. Junior Kathryn Kramer (Tampa, Fla.) was the final Gator finisher in the top 10 with her time of 18:29.07.

The Florida men took each of the top four spots and 12 of the top 17. They were lead by senior Enoch Nadler (Keystone Heights, Fla.) with an

8K time of 24:48.73. Sophomore Sean Blaney (Kissimmee, Fla.) ran a career-best time of 25:11.69 to place second. Senior Scott Hans

(Middleburg, Fla.) ran to a third-place finish with a time of 25:12.90. Senior Jose Garcia (Miami, Fla.) finished in 25:17.77 to place fourth. Two unattached runners, one of them, Florida alumnus Alex Phipps, came in before the next Gator finisher senior Jeremy Miller (West Palm Beach, Fla.) in seventh place with a time of 25:35.33. Sophomore Justin Taylor

(St. Augustine, Fla.) was the sixth Gator finisher in eighth overall in

25:36.31. Sophomore Aaron Kindt (Orlando, Fla.) ran 25:40.57 to finish seventh for the Gators and 10th overall.
