Yeah, it'd be nice if he rebounded more but, man ..

Young has been a big plus for our program not only for his playing ability but also for his character. You gotta love the guy as it is seldom you don't see him smiling. Reminds me of Brewer in that aspect.

He has improved so much this year. I think he finally lived up to all of his hype out of HS.

I think the lack of practice players his own size, hurt his development during his sophomore and junior seasons. Now that he can bang with Harris and Walker, it has made a big difference

Also as confidence in Walker builds, Patric will be less concerned about foul trouble

I think Patric is underappreciated by many Gator fans. His physical presence (6'9" and a chiseled 245) cannot be replaced by any player on the team or being recruited. Even if Harris and Walker return to the Gators next year, neither has the strength and court intelligence to be the force Patric brings to the court every game. We see glimpses of what will happen when Patric sits out for extended periods of time. The other teams immediately take over the paint and do things they are unable to do when Patric is in the game. IMO, he is the most irreplaceable player on the team.

If he keeps his motor revving through the last third of his senior season at the same pace as most of the first two-thirds, and continues to demand the ball on the block, any prize is within this team's reach. Hopefully our guards will be less hesitant than they have been lately moving the ball inside.

I am a big fan of PY on the court, but maybe an even bigger fan off the court.

Patrick is a stud. Of all the players on the team, I will be most happy for him if we win the the SEC title.

My younger brother was good friends with Pat at Providence High School. He has been over by my house a few times; just a really nice guy. He had so much buzz around him in Jacksonville during his senior year and he handled it really well (comparing him to guys like Stacey and Soloman Poole who obviously have not had the same success at Pat). Really one of the nicest guys you will ever meet, im glad to see him doing well his senior year, hope he can develop it into an NBA career

The more I watch this team, the more convinced I am that Patric is the MVG, with Wilbekin a close second. Whenever Pat takes a seat, I see a noticeable dropoff in the team's performance.

He is way under appreciated by Gator fans! Billy D and UF should institute an award that goes out to the Gator athlete that best represents the school as a student athlete and it should be named the Patrick Young award.

Great thread and yes he is a joy to watch and from all indications a great student athlete representative for the University of Florida. I believe that to be true of all the Seniors actually. I know SW has had a few bumps in the road but I love his game and it seems like he may have worked through his issues.

Would love to see this group go out with an SEC regular season championship, SEC championship and trip to the final four.

As I said, we'd all like him to rebound more consistently. Love him to be a 15-10 guy night after night. But his defense down low is absolutely vital to this team, and his enthusiasm maybe even more so. As a person, he seems everything you want a Gator to be.

To know how special Pat is, pay attention to our offense when he is not on the floor. We have actually improved in this regard, esp later in the season. But take Pat out and the offense often goes stagnant because defenders no longer have to sag in and can extend into passing lanes while defending the perimeter. We end up passing it around the perimeter and getting deeper into the shot clock because our primary post threat has disappeared. Now if CWalk can remedy that remains to be seen, but I'm optimistic. The health of Will Yeguete this season has been a big bonus too.

To rain on your parade.......my son was at camp when he was 8. Patric was reffing the game, and he called a charge on my son.....and my son assures me the guy was leaning :). So as we watch every game, and they rain well deserved accolades on Big #4, he'll always add ...but he's a terrible ref :)

I think he was, but no more. It seems he's got a pretty ardent fan base among Gator fans now. And it's well-earned.
