There will be 12 New Events in this Winter Olympics. One is called Ski Halfpipe.

I'm not sure what it is but I am curious to see it. It is suppose to bring an infusion of youth and energy to the Winter Olympics! And that's great I think!

I love the Olympics. I remember staying up to watch the highlights from 10:30 until Midnight back in the days before they had wall to wall coverage.

I still remember watching the Miracle on Ice as a kid. I had no clue about hockey, but we knew we hated the Soviets. That's one of my all-time favorite sports memories.

did anyone catch Bob Costas last night.

8pm first broadcast on NBC, he had to explain that the reason he was wearing glasses is because he picked up an eye infection while in Sochi. He tried to laugh it off by saying the infection was least of his problems.

Hockey starts next week so I probably won't be watching much til then. Really hoping we get the gold this time after that heartbreaker four years ago.

An Olympic hellafail was only a matter of time, really. I'm sure the IOC will learn from this.

Sad story. American mogul skier, Heidi Kloser, tears her knee apart on a warm-up run. Train for years and BAM!

OK, which superpower looks more clueless?

One holds a warm-weather championship event in a cold-climate city with massive urban congestion in the midst of one of the harshest winters on record

The other holds a winter sports event requiring massive amounts of snow at a seaside resort in a terrorism-laden region where the average wintertime low temp is 58 degrees

That would be the latter considering its the only superpower that is in charge of putting an event on.

unless you consider the NFL to be a international superpower?

I was in Gainesville as a freshman watching that game in my off campus apartment. I remember getting really plowed at Allen's Gator Haus afterward. What a great party atmosphere that night! USA! USA!

I love watching the Winter Olympics! Tonight I was glued to the TV watching the ice skate pairs dancing. Awesome talent these young people have. And they get world wide attention on TV for just a few minutes after taking years of hard work to make it there.
