Caleb Jones was a top recruit in the 2012 class. He got in trouble at the University of Texas for beating up a Tennis player who was talking to his ex girlfriend. Not sure how interested UF would be especially after the Morrison incident.

Probably too hot to handle given recent events and recruiting successes, IMO.

It was changed to a misdemeanor. But I can just imagine the talk that would come if we got him

Muschamp probably won't take the guy, but, you don't hear about teams accepting problem children into their programs, you only hear about the players as they're getting arrested and booted from the former team. Transferring seems to cleanse the transgression.

Beating up on a tennis player, come on! No way we mess with this guy and jeopardize our tennis team.

These guys usually don't work out. Remember Bowden taking Randy Moss at FSU after he beat up some student and was kicked out of ND. Bobby took a lot of heat for that, as he should have. It wasn't long before he was in more trouble(weed), and was sent packing again.

Thought about it this mourning. This is why Muschamp gets paid the big bucks. Cayleb is not a kid that is going to join a gang tomorrow and start carrying a gun. The worst thing he is going to do is get drunk and get into a bar fight. He would really help in 2014 a year UF pegged as the favorite to win the title. It is just hard to do because of the media.

If he has no other incidents on his record. I would take him, but not before talking to his high school coach and the AD at his high school. Not just to find out about him and his character, but to make inroads at a Texas high school. If we actually take him, that will create some good will within the state and possibly rebuild the recruiting pipelines. It won't hurt that we're going to sign one of the state's best current players.

I agree with GATORAZ. I'm sure Muschamp is aware of this kid and if he feels the kid is repentant and does not have a background of being a thug, I believe he might take the kid and give him another chance. He does not strike me as the type who cares one iota about what the media thinks and will do what he feels might be in the best interest of the team. Chances are, he probably won't reach out to this kid, but it would not surprise me if he were to take him, especially since the charges were dropped to a misdemeanor.

Oh he cares about the media he has to. One slip up by the kid and the blame will go right to will. Tough call

I think we have to at least seriously consider him. He's not radioactive even if there's some criticism, wasn't in "serious" trouble, and doesn't appear to have a history of similar incidents. And if he can get downfield and catch the ball we need him. Throw in the development of goodwill among Texas HS and it has to be at least a possibility. Not saying I'd be in favor, but I can't dismiss him outright based on the circumstances under which he left Texas.

If he was in Texas' 2012 class, isn't there a good chance that Coach Boom knows the kid? Depending on how early(young) they start recruiting kids in Texas, wouldn't Muschamp have known him?

As long as he was not beating up female tennis players, where we actually win championships, I say let him come.

Its my experience that guys who pummel another guy for hanging out with an ex are pretty unstable. I wouldn't be surprised if he had girl trouble again in the future. That being said, if he can help us win games, sign him up!

He had a UF offer in high school Muschamp knows who he is. I would assume Pease Choate and Joker know about him as well from their connections in the state.

Well if he only drinks in a bar and beats someone up then we are good to go. Grab him. Let's continue to add to our wonderful summer we have had. I am sure the press will give us a pass with this.

Nobody said he was going to do it. I said that is probably the worst thing that he would do. If you want to recruit players that wont drink UF wont have a team that wins games in the SEC. This summer has been pretty lite for the most part. One player out of 83 punching a bouncer. I am not even lobbying for him I am just saying it is an option.
