So of Driskel's 23 TDs, 15 are from rushing? So he only has 7 passing TDs to 17 interceptions??

Or are you saying he has 38 total TDs?

I think he's saying he gets 38 TDs total, 23 passing.

17 picks is still too many. They tend to come in bunches with JD, so that's probably four "give away" losses right there.

And I really don't think JD can play the whole season if we're running him in the RZ that often, based on his injury history.

In terms of distribution, I would expect us to get D Rob, and the slot (Bailey and/or McKenzie?) more involved.

Yes, that's a tough choice... I don't think that many interceptions is worth the TDs though... kinda depends on our defense.

These are basically the Stats that Duke had for last year substituting our players. I did make some adjustments as Duke had one receiver catch almost 100 balls and I do not think we have anyone right now who would do that. I also gave more carries to Taylor as Duke balanced it out among 3 backs. In addition Duke had a running QB for the goal line and I combined the Duke QB stats into just Driskel.

I do want to say that I do not think that we will be a carbon copy of what Duke looked liked this year. Having a better defense, I do believe will lead us to be a little more careful in the passing game so I would not expect as many interceptions. I would also be interested in seeing how the ball gets distributed.. The spring game should be a fun one this year.

    Informative stuff, Bobby.

Duke had the luxury of a weak ACC schedule... even by ACC standards. We can't turn the ball over like that and make it through the SEC schedule, unless we're putting up a LOT more points.

We should have the luxury of a stronger backfield to work with. Which reminds me that I will be surprised if Lane doesn't get a lot of touches. It's really tough to tell when Jones will come back as that torn meniscus sounds pretty rough. I think I'd assume Lane is the second guy in, and I'd give him probably at least 60% as many touches and yards as KT.

I'd take whatever offensive stats are on offer that win the most games.

Mack Brown should be even better than last year. But I still would like to see Lane with some touches.
    Lane may surprise us!

I think Florida's risk-averse offense has been more harmful than helpful in the past few years, so I might be willing to accept 17 INTs to 23 TDs in the air in the first year of a more risk-taking offense. Check out Rex Grossman in 2002:

If I'm adding up the numbers correctly, that would be 47 TDs, which would be an average of about 4 per game. If we assume an average of even 1 FG per game, that'd be 31 points per game strictly from the offense (assuming these numbers are for the regular season only).

We were at 18.8 PPG in 2013, 26.5 in 2012, and 25.5 in 2011. It would be the highest PPG output since 2009 (35.9), and if you include the odd defensive of special teams TD (especially if Debose is returning kickoffs) and/or a higher FG per game average, there would be a chance to surpass the 2009 mark.

Yes, I would take that offensive output. It would have put us in the top 50 in PPG in 2013 (50th was 31.8).

Bailey will have 4 catches at least in the 1st game alone.

And this proves my point. Where's Adam lane....... people like to forget about him. #beastmode

I think we throw it much more than these numbers indicate as well as spread it around more with roper.

18 rec for d-rob? 4 all year for Alvin bailey, this guy was talked about as the most fast twitch explosive wr we brought in last year, he was just raw and had to learn the position since he was a former qb.

Valdez showers had 50 yards rushing his first game with us as a offensive threat, I think he becomes a pleasant surprise if we get him the ball in space.

I also think Roper will rotate qbs more, especially if we pick up harris, so his numbers may be watered down a little as well. Most of his redzone TDs will go to Adam lane, KT, or jones.

Not bad though, the op definitely put some thought into it.

Yeah, but we lost 5 games in 2002. Certainly that would be an improvement over what we saw the last several years, but that's still not the minimally accepted standard, IMO.

17 picks would be a disaster...As most of them would likely come in bigger games (Bama, UGA, FSU, etc).

I'm most concerned with our ppg. I'd like to see if 33-36 avg, again w higher scores vs the lesser teams. I'd be happy w 21-30 vs the same teams mentioned above.

"Would you take this?" sounds like we are in quite dire straits to be compromising this far

Nah.... OP is just superimposing Duke's stats on what we might do and see if we Gator fans would be happy with those numbers.

Completely different dynamics, so not sure how much we can get out of the comparison.

One thing for sure is we can't turn the ball over like that against the schedule we're facing.

I thought looking at this would be fun to discuss. My hope is that we have a very successful season and can look back at this post and say wow, BobbyGator was way off, we blew these stats away.
