If we were to beat LSU but lose to bama, uga, usce, and sow would our record be enough for you to want to retain WM? Many would cite improvement on wins, but yet once again another lose to the dogs, and sow would be painful. Once again, no sec east title. Frankly, for me, 8-4 regular season isn't enough.

This topic may have been approached before but it is off season and some of us have short memories.

I will never be "happy" with 8-4.

Of course, 8-4 would end with either 9-4 or 8-5. That makes a difference. A 9-win season seems to be the universal "Mendoza line" for Gator fans. Even Spurrier had a couple.

But I might be satiated with 9-4. Not happy. But quietly and hopefully content.

    In a word: no.

No matter which way one cuts it, 8-4 means one of two things: Florida finishes with a losing record against the top 25 portion of our schedule OR Florida finishes 50-50 against the top 25, but drops a game we shouldn't against an unranked team.

Neither should give anyone much comfort that Muschamp is our guy. 8-4 should be a rebuilding year at Florida, NOT the type of performance for a coach trying to rectify a 4-8 absolute disaster of a season, where one of the losses was at home against a DII team.

9-3 should be the minimum for Muschanp next year. He went 10-1 against a schedule no less daunting two years ago, so I don't want anyone to say "but this is the toughest schedule EVER!!" It's Florida. Tough schedules come with the territory. If Muschamp did it once, he can do it again. Otherwise, the ONE good season he had was the statistical outlier, not what he's capable of.

My Gator-related happiness comes from watching fun football games in which we play well, and if we lose to a better team, I am fine with that. What I don't like it watching sloppy football and games in which we lose because we beat ourselves. So if we lose four games but were competitive and played well, I'm good with that. And win or lose, for whatever reason, as soon as the game is over I move on with my weekend. Just a game, played by kids...

I don't think you want a program built on the thought that mediocrity is ok, because at least it's better than 4-8!

On the surface yes because it's twice as many wins as last year.

Though for me 9-3 with a win over the leghumpers would be the base level for a good season

No. And the thought of losing to UGA again is just UGaly. In fact, in unacceptable. I really think that unless we win the East while losing that game, it's a must win for coach.

Here's how I could see being happy with 8-4:

5-3 in the SEC, tie-breaker on account of head-to-head victories over South Carolina and Georgia; FLORIDA goes to Atlanta with one OOC loss. It was Idaho, and half of you were ready to fire the coach at halftime, but he somehow survived.

FLORIDA avenges the earlier loss to Alabama and wins the SEC Championship. By the end of the season, people believe we are good enough, but just do not like our record, so we miss the playoffs.

    Go GATORS!

Not happy but I consider 8-4 a reasonable goal given our schedule.

Win the SEC east or get out.

That's my feelings. Fair or unfair...fourth year, you better get to Atlanta.

No. It doesn't matter who the "8" wins are over or the "4" losses are to.

8-4 is accepting a new, lower standard in Gator football. 2014 was/is supposed to be THE year to compete for championships and any excuse for Muschamp's lack of wins to this point have been spent.

I can see it now.. "We doubled our wins from a year ago." hahaha

He's keeping his job with six or higher, so if you like him eight wins should seem peachy.

If he doesn't get fired after 4-8, getting blown out by Vandy on Homecoming, Georgia Southern and FSU at home, he's not getting fired for anything short of another disaster.

Six will be seen as a drastic improvement from 4, and he'll keep his job because JF wants to keep him, and JF is sooooo much smarter than anybody anywhere. Just ask him. or ask people here. So WM will remain UF's coach until a better option emerges and JF can look like a genius again instead of looking like he made a mistake. End of story.

There is so much wrong with this, that I can't respond to it all. Just highlighting the things that are beyond flawed.
