Refs need to be reviewed in basketball. That's horrid.
Someone forgot to watch UF vs FSU in 2003. That game had 10 calls worse than that.
that NBA Ref must've had a bet on the game
There must be some rule that I don't know, because that call seemed pretty inexplicable.
It reminds of Wade's 7 step non-travel from a few weeks ago that someone posted on here.
wow with the headline...not even close to worst call ever in sports.
Not the worst call ever (or anything remotely close to it), but I thought it was odd that there was no lane violation called when we played Alabama (~12:50 left in the game; ~0:46:50 into the youtube video):
The line for his space his hard to see, but it's there, and you can see the player clearly cross the line before the ball is released.
i didn't see anyone go into the lane
Not into the lane, he crossed into Scottie's block (player to Scottie's left).
ah. can't tell if he crossed into scottie's area. didn't even know it would have been a violation.
I think that was a good no call
I predicted Larry Bird would never make it in the pros.
Consider the situation. They would have had a free throw to tie the game. Instead it takes away 3 points and the other team is shooting foul shots.
Maybe not the worst ever, but it's up there...
It was more clear on television, but maybe I'm crazy and the line is not where I think it is. It just looked obvious to me at the time, and I was surprised nothing else was mentioned about it.
Inexcusably poor call.
But by your thread title, it appears that you never saw the Swindle in the Swamp.
Disturbingly bad. It seems like basketball officials at every level have been pretty wild this year
A couple years ago Kobe started intentionally sticking his leg out to the side to draw contact from a defender running by him to challenge a jump shot. The NBA quickly made a rule making that an offensive foul..
This was a very poor application of that rule, Lowry's leg kicks out a little bit, but in a natural way and never should have been called an offensive foul. The tech is also pretty bad IMO, but neither is the worst call ever, not even close.
Ok, well that makes it a little better. Thanks Brodeur.
meh wow that isn't even close to worst call in history. I think it's debatable that it was the right call, is leg was on the verge of being unnaturally out to far. Ref sees it at his angle might look even worse.
