Gators are #1 overall seed, opening up with Marist. Georgia Tech-Yale the other matchup.
UF's half of the bracket. Will not be an easy road.
College of Charleston
#16 Texas Tech
#5 USC(many believe they are the toughest challenger for Florida)
San Jose State
Wm & Mary
San Diego State
South Carolina State
Surprising and refreshing pairings for our regional with FSU and SC State being sent elsewhere this year.
Really unbalanced bracket overall though. Unfortunately we ended up on the side with most of the underrated Pac-12 teams, though Stanford-USC will have to knock each other out, and the winner of that still has to get past UGA before we'd potentially see them in the semis.
Just incredible parity this year. Have long thought this could be the best tourney in years. Very real chance for 8-10 different teams to be there at the end
I'm guessing UF will see Duke in round of 16, Cal in quarters, and USC in semis
Wouldn't count on Duke. They are down to 5 players, and start each match forfeiting a doubles match and #6 singles. Their #5 singles player is a walk on from the soccer team. Very reminiscent of our misfortune several years back.
Duke would have been one of the favorites but 2 season ending injuries and their #1 was kicked off the team for plagiarizing a paper.
They have lost 4 matches in a row and are struggling to beat anyone.
You are right, I forgot they lost their #1, who is very very good. Scratch them....and that makes UF's run to the quarters a lot clearer.
Got some players selected to the individual draws as well.
Singles - Embree (#1 Seed), Oyen & Cercone
Doubles - Embree/Oyen
Poor Embree is usaully beaten up by the time the singles draw is played. Would be nice for her to win the individual title, but its brutal when she has had to play 4 rounds of singles and doubles at #1 during the team portion.
