6-3, 6-2 Hitimana clinches it!
Hit-Girl does it!
Wow, that was a nail biter.
Stanford tomorrow! Bring your popcorn!
damn that got tight down the stretch
Kudos to the Hitwoman. Gators win, theeeeee Gators Win!!!!!!!
Morgan's falling apart is a very bad sign for tomorrow. Her match vs Tan will be VERY key, and she will be playing one of the most savvy pponents around. Got to get her head back on straight.
Cercone will have an easier matchup, but Oyen will really be outmatched by Ahn in my opinion. Embree /Gibbs is big time. Should be fun
did we play them already this season
This was the scoresheet when we beat them earlier in the season in Gainesville:
yeah i just watched the highlights should be a heckuva match it always is when we play them
Always shocking when we lose the doubles point like we did to Stanford this year. But we put them away in singles 4-1, winning 4-2 overall.
Going for the pac12 bay area sweep tomorrow.
We have been a little better in doubles lately, but been very bad for the majority of the season. Tried tons of different lineups but nothing seems to click consistently.
In fact, many have thought doubles would be what would eventually cost UF the title this year, myself included.
So strange that in a potential NC year, that could be our Achilles' Heel, since we've always been so dominant in doubles.
Yeah, that probably won it for us 2 years ago, and we were much stronger last year as well. Losing Mather hurt though.
Cal is going to be good, their top 4 players all return next year. UF better take advantage this year because there s no replacement for Embree as things stand right now
Yeah, next year will be a step back for the squad. Best they gather their rosebuds while they may.
With Stanford ranked out of the top 10 this year did anyone really believe we could win another National Championship without having to go thru them again? I sure didn't. Was at the Florida Stanford match in Gainesville earlier in the year and the margin of victory was actually razor thin even though the score was 4-2. Embree was in a tuff 3 setter when the match was won by Morgan who had an absolute war with Tan. I stood directly behind them when the match was moved inside and I've never seen two girls hit one bomb after another, just incredible ground strokes. The thing that really amazed me was how easy Oyen defeated Ahn. That one has me concerned. Ahn had a bad day, not sure we can count on that again. Embree is an absolute warrior but her opponent Gibbes won both singles and doubles titles last year and is a beast. Should be another one for the history books.
So where are we in the tourney? Semi finals, finals, etc?
(Nevermind - Google is my friend - http://www.ncaa.com/interactive-bracket/tennis-women/d1 )
I'm also happy to see that it will be a neutral court from here on out. Having to play at Stanford's courts year before last in the finals was bogus.
A school is awarded the hosting slot for the final 16 each year. UF has hosted...not sure where next years event will be.
The top 16 seeds host regionals (4 teams per regional) and UF is generally a lock to host that every year.
Other than in Flushing I doubt there are many neutral sites that could actually work for the round of 16.
It actually seems like this is better than any of the other venues they have used. Plus it is only 250 miles from where I live and I am going to be able to detour there tomorrow night on my way to Chicago to watch the finals.
Perhaps they should make this a permanent venue since it is close to my house. LOL
