Because it is going to put Gator Coaches in the city ... High School coaches like it when the flagship university is on their campus...

The coaches are already there all the time. How do you think we got Nick Washington Fulwood Sharpe McMillan? Those Jax kids come to almost every Gator home game

There is a bunch of kids next year from TC and I do not see UF in the mix. Plus it is never bad to sign kids out of Jax. What is not to like about Wolford?

You don't see UF in the Mix for who? That group of kids has been to almost every UF home game for the last 2 years. They even went to the Miami game just to see UF. Jeff Hollond says UF is in his top 2. Norton says UF is in his top group. Toliver is committed to LSU (he is from there) but says UF is recruiting him hard. So who are the kids from TC that UF is not in the mix for that you think they should be?

I could be wrong but if we are going to offer another QB I would assume they would do it after Grier is in classes

No John Wolford is not. He's either 6'1" or 6'2".

Wolford reminds me of a former Bolles high school QB in Jacksonville named Riley Skinner that later became a star QB for Wake Forest. Wolford looks like a better high school player at this point in his career.

Gosh, Wolford looks like a talented football player and our staff may miss on a future great QB. But if you take 10 guys with his profile(measurables, stats) most will not make it at the next level. I'm not sold on our staff's evaluations to this point but Wolford is a gamble. I doubt we look back and wish we had offered. Moreover, just because he's successful at another school, different system, different staff, does not mean he would have made it at UF.

I see no more gamble here than Grier. What "profile (measurables, stats)" are you referring to that Wolford is deficient in? Height? The kid is 6'1"/6'2". What else?

I know that Muschamp wants to be Saban and just rely on "measurables." But you would think that our head coach, who was an undersized, walk-on safety at Georgia with a lot of heart and determination would understand that evaluation of recruits (especially QB) is more than "paint by numbers."

The University of Florida was 4-8 this year and QB performance and lack of quality depth at the position is a major reason for that....and Muschamp being fired next year. If he's going to "fix it" he needs to start at QB now!

We also should own Jacksonville and not let anyone of this caliber get away.

You can see the difference between Grier and Wolford dont act naive.
You already know Muschamp will be fired next year?
We do pretty much own Jax right now. If we offer Wolford he will commit right?

i'm not knocking Grier..of course, i hope he turns out to be a great Gator QB. I've just seen Wolford play a bunch and think he's that good. You obviously have a different opinion....as you have posted numerous times. I wouldn't call your opinion about Wolford naive...just wrong.

I hope Muschamp is not fired next year...but he will be if he doesn't turn things around. No news there.

Don't know Wolford or if he would commit to UF, if offered. From the articles posted above, it sounds like he would listen.

I've never been under the impression staff wanted two QBs. It feels like people making noise are just afraid we are missing a winner. If you told me we are taking two QBs and Wolford would be our second I'd say great. He looks like a good prospect and had a pretty big SR year(about half the yards Grier had his JR year). His being unranked reminds me of the type of player we've rounded out a few previous classes with- the kind that end up transferring.

I think Wolford should take the Wake Forest offer. New coaching staff that did a pretty good job with a short QB this year. Penn State offer is about depth. They had a player transfer now they need another QB. They already picked their QB for 2014 class and they will get a good one in 2015.

Wolford will make the right decision, I would love to see him play at Florida. This kid is special, I have seen him play several times...we need to give him a shot (we won't regret it). Regardless, this kid is a winner and I think he will make an immediate impact wherever he goes! If we don't sign him, I really hope we do not have to play against him.
