    http://now.msn.com/rachel-jeantel-offered-college-scholarship-by-radio-host-tom-joyner

"After watching Piers Morgan's interview Monday with Rachel Jeantel, a key witness in George Zimmerman's trial, radio personality Tom Joyner was so moved that he decided to do something extraordinary. During his Tuesday program, Joyner called Jeantel to express his admiration for her and offer to personally help her attend a historically black college or university. "I will help you get tutors to get you out of high school, tutors to help you pass the SAT and I will give you a full-ride scholarship to any HBCU you'd like," he promised. His generous offer isn't just a random grand gesture: Joyner has a foundation that provides full rides to HBCUs"

While the gesture 'may' be genuine....one has to wonder if what it takes in this country now to get a free ride to college is to be on the national stage for your 15 mins of fame, and be unable to put together a coherent sentence that most people could understand, in the hopes that someone watching has a soft enough spot to offer to pay for everything???

I guess those students who busted their arses in high school...working hard to make good enough grades... able to speak friggin English in a coherent manner---simply don't stand a chance.

Health and Human Services is expanding Obamacare to include coverage for Rachel's under-bite.

Hey that is great. You are not required to read cursive in college.

Life isn't fair. She speaks English as a second language and - honestly - as a young, unlearned, black woman with an accent she's got her road cut out for her in the USA. So, someone decides to use his money to give her a great opportunity - isn't that what we conservatives preach is the beauty of our economic system?

I hope she takes this horrific event and the subsequent offer and makes the most of her life.

When did the SAT become pass/fail?

Good for her. Private citizens/foundations can spend their money as they please.

I hope as she becomes educated she realizes how divisive words like "creepy ass cracker" can be. She's probably aware that the "N word" has all but been banished from the vocabulary of most Americans -- unless you're black, in which case you can say whatever you like. I hope she uses her opportunity to eradicate racism from American culture -- although that would put her at odds with obama, holder, sharpton, jackson and the naacp, but we can hope can't we?

That's a nice gesture, but I think she'd have hard time in college.

That's what you took from the article? Tough crowd.

And I'm sure "pass" means a score that will get a student into one of those HBCUs.

Yeah it's not for everyone. If it was then what would be the significance of a college degree?

Yeah, did Joyner actually have some reason to know she wanted to go to an HBCU? Maybe she would be happy enough to go FIU, dude.

Like matt said, this is private donation, so does it really matter? She's uneducated, probably doesn't have the most advantaged background, and her best friend was just murdered. I can think of worse ways to spend money, and the act seems pretty consistent with the vision of the foundation.
