While LP did a great job returning the pick six - I that VHIII has been a much better cover corner this year.

I think honestly I would rather have VHIII and MR as the 2 starters at CB

    Thoughts?

I think we will rotate corners to keep guys fresh. Depth is a great problem to have :)

We play three CBs more often than not so the notion of a starter is somewhat less meaningful.

Whoever it is needs to watch out for the slants over the middle.

    And everything else.

    Hope that helps.

Any concern Roberson will be a bit rusty? Purifoy seems to be the best athlete to win the "ball in the air" battles with his range and size. Beckham and Landry aren't burners but big physical guys

But Purifoy also seems to get caught out of position at times too

FWIW, I've seen Purifoy get beat more than any other corner on the tape I have seen which includes all the games this year and a few from last year. It will be interesting to see who they match up with their #1 and #2 receivers. If we can shut those down I am very confident in our chances at LSU this weekend. Big test for the rushing defense--glad we got to play Arkansas to somewhat prepare for a running game.

Agreed but Purifoy had his best game as a corner Saturday and I think everybody is hoping this is a sign of continued development on his part.

On a side note, I found it interesting that his first pick came with him playing inside on the slot receiver rather than outside on an island. Don't think I've ever seen him play that inside corner position but he played a bit of both against Arky. Either way, once he got that first missed tackle on Collins out of the way his play was outstanding

Play all 3 of them! LSU won't be able to run, so we will go to the nickel and start picking off passes! If we turn LSU into a one dimensional team, we can put a major hurt on them!

Agreed! They appear to be scoring more through the air and our DB's will have to stay fresh the whole game. With all of that passing, I am hoping for a couple of picks EARLY to shake their QB's confidence! We also need to keep pressure in his face ALL game.

We've been in the nickel all year. That's our base defense.....4-2-5. Hasn't anyone noticed that? The problem then is what to do with Brian Poole. He's playing as well as any of them. Perhaps nobody has noticed that either.

Getting yourself unnecessarily suspended for a game and a half will do that.

What a nice problem to have. All of them are beasts. LP can be an important weapon for us coming off the corner on the blitz. I love watching them play. BP24 is one of my favorites on the team and he's only getting better.

Purifoy, gets out of position most often. He's best playing as the xtra corner and helping with run and bliltz. Roberson was the guy we expected to be making an impact. Hope he isnt rusty, or if so shakes it off early!

Pure cover corners: Hargreaves and Roberson.
    Knack for big plays: Purifoy.
