This is going to be the next president of the U S. He has taken $ 3.6 Billion Budget deficit in WI and turned it into a 1/2 Billion dollar surplus. He defied obama about closing parks that the state of WI pays for and operates on federal land. He is also going to allow hunting and fishing . Good Job need more like him

"Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker is defying a directive from the National Park Service to close down several state parks that receive federal funding in the wake of the partial government shutdown.

The Republican governor has directed the state Natural Resources Department to keep open parks that receive a majority of their funding from the state, The Hill reported.

The department recently intervened after the Fish and Wildlife Service placed barricades near a Mississippi River boat launch because it was on federal land. The barricades were removed because of a decades-old agreement between Wisconsin and the federal government, state officials said.

"We respect the magnitude of the process the federal government has had to undertake to close its properties and certain activities on properties they own and manage," Cathy Stepp, secretary of the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, told agency employees in an email obtained by The Hill.

I think if the state's money is being used the federal government has no right to tell them to close.

So spending more money is the solution to saving money? Sounds like a good plan to me.

How is it more money? If he already has the funds from the state budget, how is he adding to it?

Hall look at how much prezBO is spending to make things difficult for people- the cost he has spent to try and upset WW2 Vets at a Memorial that is an open walkway thru it just like the VietNam Memorial and the WW1 Memorial is absurd- if Wisconsin pays the bulk of the $ to facilitate these National Parks in their state and they have the funds to do so, then they should keep them open- but that puts a chink in what preazBO is trying to do

These are parks that Wisconsin pays for that happen to be on federal land. If they have been paying for it then it should be their choice.

Who is making up the shortfall of federal funds? Funds have to be replaced when used up. Is this about the people or just another grandstanding ploy by a politician? That's the real question.

The only problem with this argument is I am not justifying what Obama and the feds spend.

they do-but if those funds are allocated for the parks and they have spent all those funds-then why not spend those funds and keep the parks open

And Harry Reid's decision not to allow spending bills to come up for a vote is not an act of grandstanding? I suppose that saves money on electricity operating the digital vote tabulators.

All these guys are grandstanding. And the longer the insurance exchanges are not functioning and the longer the folks (actually paying attention) learn about the pricing, exemptions, exclusions etc., the stronger the case for cancelling the mandate for individuals for one year just like the large company market is delayed.

What is so wrong about equality for the little guy?

Once again Bill the funds have to be replaced. Is the fed going to make funds retroactive when they get back up and running or will state funds have to make up the shortfall?

If I thought this was anything but grandstanding I might believe it was a good idea but I don't. Those of you who agree with it need to ask if the real reason you do is because it appears to be a counter to Obama rather than any inherent redeeming value it has.

Exactly. It is exactly a counter to Obama and a symbolic gesture by the governor that an over reaching Federal Government ain't running the show in the dairy state. And I bet the folks love it!
