4 years ago the Cavs did a sign and trade with the Heat for LeBron. With the Heat return the favor?

I think they might because the Cavs own a future 1st round draft pick of Miami and it could be very valuable since they are about to be very bad. They probably want that back.

    I don't think it is.

    • Two first-round picks, that must be used starting in 2013 and ending by 2017

Perhaps I'm misreading but don't you have that backwards. Wouldn't the Cavs be the one to do the Heat a favor in that scenario. No reason for the Cavs to give up anything at this point. BTW, I could be wrong but I thought that pick was lottery protected, which probably won't matter if Bosh and Wade return to the Hear.

I think the favor is the cavs could give lebron a 5th year and more money via a sign and trade. Maybe they could dump waiters on them as part of it, to free up the space for Allen and or Miller

I looked it up. The pick is top 10 protected. With Bosh returning, Miami should be playoff team, anyhow.

I think Waiters may be part of a Love deal if that materializes.

I guess it depends which way you look at it. Usually the team that loses the player is the one that is doing the favor. They sign the guy so he can get max money and it hits the cap differently. I guess you are looking at it as the Heat getting something instead of nothing.

probably wishful thinking! terrible move on Miami for offering more money. They would have been better off long term if he left. They aren't winning any titles without LeBron.

While it seems that way, it was the heat and wade who had the title before lebron.

With Wade, Haslem and Shaq close to their primes. Those guys are close to the "Jordan for the Wizards" stage of their careers now. Shaq wears a suit and tells jokes on TV.

Why would cavs sign and trade? They have Labron AND the pick.

Disagree. Sure they overpaid, but no Bosh would mean no Deng and probably a couple of other guys. There is more to it than just winning titles. Something to be said for putting a competitive product on the court.

As for the Cavs having the Heats #1 pick, exactly how did they get it in the first place?? I don't recall, probably too busy celebrating Lebrons arrival to worry about the details at the time.

He chose Miami and then the Cavs did a sign-and-trade...

There is something to be said for being competitive, but I can't see them cracking the Top 4. I think they would be better off with 1 or 2 bad seasons and be ready to reload when the new cap hits. Wade will be gone. They would have a new era.
