He's a very good coach, so I vote yes. I think he learned his lesson at UT and won't do anything as stupid as he did there.

I don't get the "matter of time" statements. The thing he got pinned with was dumb. The cover up was the concerning part. Is he narcissistic enough to be as brazen in dealing with the NCAA the second time around? Man I just can't see it. I think Pearl is good for the league. How many coaches (that would go to Auburn) could turn Auburn into a tourney team? He hasn't yet, but I bet it happens.

^^ I am with REM, though the hypocrisy of once being a rat and then covering up his own transgressions . . . is bothersome.
But I think he will do very well at AU. And for a program in desperate need of excitement . . . this was a brilliant hire.

He did it at his job previous to Tennessee also and yes he is brazen enough to do it again and he is at a university who wants to win no matter what the cost.

Bruce Pearl doesn't sweat through his jacket. It is slime, not sweat. He has been thus since his days as an assistant at Iowa and probably before, but I don't know about the before part so I can't say for certain.

    He's a very good coach.

You may perhaps recall that when he was at Tennessee for the Gators two National Championship and SEC Tournament Championship teams, those Gators had 1 win and 3 losses against Tennessee.

Regarding the "...matter of time" statement, the thing you must realize about high profile things like Division I College Basketball, is quite simply that almost everything gets blown way, way out of proportion by the insanely sensationalist media that surrounds the sport.

I too doubt he will challenge the NCAA, having been burned once. Most people get "twice shy" following such experiences.

He'll win at Auburn. Cliff Ellis had Auburn ranked no. 1 and Pearl is as good a coach as Ellis, imo. Ellis had been in trouble with the NCAA when AU hired him and he got AU in trouble. Pearl had been in trouble with the NCAA when AU hired him and he .....................

He will make the SEC tougher, he could also get athletes other teams want like Georgia or Alabama, not good for those folks. as for his coaching ability on court, he will win most battles. He gets his players to buy in and now going to auburn has just gotten tougher.

Auburn will probably be on par with what UT was when Pearl was there. More than enough for the Auburn fans.

Good coach, should make Auburn basketball relevant again. Doubtful that he would run afoul of the NCAA, but no guarantees on the boosters. I'm sure Bama fans will be vigilant.

Related question which I could Google but.............has Auburn ever won an SEC basketball title? Maybe in the Barkely/Person era?

Went ahead and googled it. Auburn has 2 conference titles, with the last in 1999 under Cliff Ellis, who resigned under duress from the NCAA in 2004. Never made a Final Four.
