I think this group is a bit biased, however, yes, the last second wins and the high scoring and the STARS, are theatrical, and the Gators do not exhibit a lot of theatrics.

Nor are the games usually very close as was noted.

Nor are the Gator games very offensively oriented, although they did score 79 points against UCLA.

Additionally, being the #1 seed, there is no Longshot drama.

Good reasons to emphasize the other teams over the one that is well coached.

God knows how far our recruiting will plummet if ESPN doesn't find the Gators sexy this week.

Particularly the ESPN media which broadcasts from a northeastern state that starts with "C"

The good thing is that the media's opinion doesn't matter when crowning a champion in CBB.

Egad. ESPN loves the Gators. LOVES. We get a ton of great coverage from them.

Unless it's 100% pro-UF, there's a segment of our fanbase that will gloss over the 80% love and get hyperfocused on the 20% non-love (which is not hate, btw. If someone picks UConn, it does not make them a Gator hater).

One downside of Final Four week, and having your team still alive, is the obsession with what commentators say about your team as they desperately fill air time and story/column quotas. A puff piece about your squad becomes the most keenly insightful piece of journalism in years, roll out the Pulitzer. A story that suggests your opponent could win or, God forbid, points out your team's flaws is a hack job, perpetrated by an ignoramus/out-of-touch retiree/alumnus, known supporter or planted spy from your arch rival, and should trigger an indignant flood of angry e-mails, here's his address.

Not knowing who Jay Williams is was a red alert for how odd the rest of the post was. I watched the same segment as you, sure Dickie V and honestly anyone who watched UK in the tourney does know that they are a threat. But Dickie V has had nothing but great things to say about the Gators all season long. Tweets daily about what a great team we have and that Billy is the most underrated coach, and how he is HOF waiting to happen. Just wanted to add that info

Except he didn't say "big," he didn't say the Gators have "no chance," and he didn't say Scottie would be worthless. Further, the next three people they asked picked the Gators. For record that's 75% picking UF.

This is the problem with when we absorb media with a fan filter. The microscopic focus on the "negative" always outweighs even grandest of opposing "positives."

UConn was supposed to be a great team this year but Daniels never showed any improvement from his sophomore year and it seemed every game was on Napier's shoulders. The thing about them was if Daniels ever got it together, UConn was the favorite to win the title. This was the thought going into this year. Daniels seems to have put it together in the tourney so it remains to be seen.

It's just a bummer when someone says something like "I'm going with UConn" and the Fan Translator immediately turns it into "Scottie Wilbekin sucks, the Gators are terrible and Billy Donovan is a hack, I'm taking UConn by 70."

Can we just allow someone to believe another team is better than us without branding them as idiots, haters or whatever and take their words at face value?

The lecturing is as irritating as the victimization.

Well if the victimization goes away, so will the "can we please stop being victims." You cannot say the same of the inverse.

But if the lecturing goes away there will be less irritation.

Vitale's schtick is too much no matter who he picks, Gators would be included.
