and the first game of a doubleheader with the Women?

I understand trying to drum up interest in the Women's team, but this doesn't seem fair to the fans.

Gator Growl is that evening. Schools are out and a lot of people are off work. I am fortunate enough to have business in Ocala that morning so I'm going to cut out early and go to the bball game!!!

I guess to fit it in between the parade and gator growl, you'd think they'd just do it Thursday night.

I keep seeing that game is at 3 and think crap I'm gonna miss the first half, then I remember I get homecomming off. working for the university is great.

That was going to be my follow up question. Why play Friday then? Could have done it Thursday or Sunday.

Thursday or Saturday night would have been the best bet. Silly to have the game in the middle of the day on Friday.

It's homecoming, public schools are out and of course the university is out. Many private businesses close early as well. For out-of-towners, if you have the game on Thursday night, you're either asking folks to drive to town twice in the same weekend or stick around for an extra night in a hotel. I don't think it's a problem for the locals either way.

    Go GATORS!

I understand them wanting to accommodate people going to the game, but that is 12,000 people tops. Most of which would go to the game if it is Thursday or Sunday. Many people might not be able to get out of work on Friday (you would probably need to be done by 2pm) to go to the game and I assume most people not going to the game (out of towners) aren't going to be able to watch. The point is that the majority of people wanting to watch the game will have to miss it. Seems like a silly way to start the season for your fans.

Thursday night there is usually a Growl dress rehearsal, and everyone who has a float in the parade is making finishing touches. Not to mention all of the "pre-parties" Thursday night. As I write, I also realize that they start moving the floats in to the O'dome parking lot Thursday night, so that wouldn't work. Having the game on Sunday either means some people have to stay another night in town, or make two trips.

I was told Thursday night isn't a possibility because you aren't allowed to start your season until Friday.
