Who will be the new USC coach?

    I know it's off topic a touch but I keep hearing talking heads mentioning Sumlin to SC. I think Kevin at SC is not a good thing. That is their version of Alabama out there and they need an NFL/defensive guy. That is who they have had the most success with in years past. Also I want Sumlin in the west to drive Saban nuts. So I wonder who you guys are thinking ends up with SC when all is said and done. I have a short list for them and Texas cause Mack is the next one out once OU kills them again.

    I think del rio is the first call and sarkasian is number 2. I also think both would be a mistake

    Del Rio is their number 1 target and from what I read, it sounds like they've already talked and there's strong interest on both sides. To the point that it's already been determined that he will not join the USC staff until the end of the NFL season.

    I think it will be Del Rio, which is fine by me. That will keep USC in the doldrums for another 3 years or so. Of course, I thought the same thing when Pete Carroll got the USC job and we all saw how USC dominated the west for 5+ years! Of course.....he wasn't exactly squeaky clean while he was the head coach!

    I don't think Petrino is a candidate but I do think that when he finally resurfaces at a major school, it could very well be a Pac-12 school, just not USC.

    But the Pac-12 schools are a little more liberal, and I think that to some extent, they are somewhat isolated from the rest of the college football world.

    Saban can make a lot of money next year if USC and Texas try to out bid Bama for him.

    From what I'm hearing on Bill King USC is not sold on either Del Rio or Sark. Matt Hayes thinks James Franklin is a leading candidate. Hiring Franklin would make more sense for USC considering that state of the program. Can Del Rio recruit? Does he have the energy or tolerance to glad hand alums? Sark's resume hardly jumps off the page. They need a guy to rebuild with a proper foundation.

    I dont think they are going to hire Petrino. If he had issues with an Arkansas blonde, how the heck will he handle the women in southern cal?
