Interesting. For the Wichita State game, the vote was 75% rooting for UK. Two rounds later, it's 81% against.

It seems that in later rounds conference pride starts to fade and gets replaced by the desire to see a rival fail.

Gotham, I think the potential of losing a NC game to a team we defeated 3x affects those percentages.

Exactly. I would hate to see us dominate 3 games and they come in, win 1 at the right time and take home another championship.

Yep. However, I'm surprised that the idea of beating UK for the 4th time and a title hasn't overridden the nonsensical fear of playing a team 4 times. If it were any other group I'd be right there with you. This group of seniors has come too far to let an intangible affect them.

Bah, no 1 has beaten an 11 until this gator team either. Crushing UK for a 4th time would be fun, losing the title to them would suck sack. I want Wisconsin, though, so we can say the gators beat every team we played in 2013-14 season.

I never understood this. I don't root for the SEC unless it helps the Gators. There are a few teams in the SEC that I don't mind winning. Kentucky and Tenn in basketball are not on that list. I don't see how Kentucky being in the Final Four helps us. Some might say that we beat a team in the Final Four 3 times. That is true, but if they lost, we still beat a team in the Elite Eight 3 times and that is pretty good. Also, I don't think anyone looked at our strength of schedule and questioned it. I was rooting for Michigan to win and I will root for Wisconsin to win.

    Go Gators!

    Revenue sharing.

That is why it is important to get as many conference teams into the NCAA's as possible. Every game the league plays is more money to be shared amongst all the teams in the conference.

I think that is silly. How much more money does UF get by UK getting to the Final Four instead of losing to Michigan?

    Wisconsin.

I love the storyline of us avenging our only two losses.

Beat UK? That has become boring! ;)

Estimated "unit" paid to the SEC is $250,000 per game this year. The more games the SEC plays, the more units they get. Of course the teams that play get extra to offset expenses, but the rest is evenly split.

This is not an immaterial amount of cash. The whole reason we have this idiotic "play-in" game set-up was that a few years ago an additional conference was granted an automatic qualifier and the power conference put up a huge stink about losing a potential bid and a "unit". The compromise was the 64th playing the 65th ranked teams as a play-in. And now we have 4 of them.

To me, the upside of beating them a 4th time would not override the downside of them making the Title Game and acting like their season was anything less than a huge disappointment. They will claim (and probably already are) that this tournament performance validates Calipari's system and him as a coach, when in reality they have badly underachieved this season and he continues to bring in top talent and fail to develop them at all.

I've never understood this. Any win by an SEC team over a non-SEC team is good for Florida. It just is. Sometimes its tangible, sometimes its intangible. Sometimes the gain is larger than at other times. In this case, it gives us our share of $500,000 if UK gets to the final game. That's tangible. Maybe our share funds one scholarship for one year. OK. That's good for us. The intangible would be that an all-SEC final in basketball would elevate the prestige of SEC basketball almost immeasurably. Like the Big East in 1985 or the Big 10 in 1976. I know there have been others, but I still remember those times right off the top of my head and its been awhile for both. And right about now, the SEC could really use a shot of prestige in basketball.

That said, I really like the idea of beating every team on our schedule, too; so beating both UConn and Bucky is appealing. So, as long as we beat UConn, I'm down with playing either team for the NC.

For all of the serious hand wringing about playing UK the 4th time (?)

since 1991, revenge teams are 1-7....maybe we should be more worried about Uconn and Wiscy ;)

Exactly. Seriously, if you were to believe some of our posters, you might think that UK would want to play the Gators.

I'm rooting for Wisconsin. I think our guard play is superior to theirs and we could get revenge for our early season loss at their place. It should be a different story at a neutral site with Scottie in the game.
