The cynic in me says that net isn't at 10', but that might just be the angle. Entertaining either way.
Not 10 feet. Cool though.
I can dunk on a little tykes hoop.
Come at me bro.
more dunking, less running around like 12 year old girls after the dunk...
Definitely not 10 feet
Well, I don't know about being less than 10 feet.
I was 5'10" tall in high school and could very nearly dunk one-handed from a stand beside the basket back in the 1960s.
My standing vertical was 24" but I have the arm length of a 6'2" fellow. If those guys are 6' with the same proportions and today's training, it wouldn't surprise me at all if they could dunk the way those young men did.
I'm not doubting that white people can dunk. Hell I can dunk and my vertical is terrible.
That video just doesn't look right and the camera angle fuels my suspicion.
It's because those guys aren't exactly getting a lot of air. Unless they're 7' tall, you typically have to elevate a little more than 10 inches to throw down a thundering tomahawk dunk.
No doubt. At 6'4" it takes all I've got for a dunk. Granted as I said I have a wretched vertical, but there are 6'0 guys who can dunk without issue.
These guys did not appear to be jumping very high nor did they appear very tall. I'm going with my gut: pathetic attempt at a viral video.
You guys are dorks... It's a cool video. Obviously not a regulation hoop lol
Cmon, if the premise of the video is a farce, we're not dorks for calling it out.
DuPont is right.
It's only a video to be funny and nothing else. I am certain it was not to imply anything was to scale in the vid.
But to slice and dice it like it was a factual documentary supports dorkness x1000......
Maybe the title of the thread was not a good choice :ninja:
Well here's the thing - and this goes back to my cynicism.
A video like this can be worth a lot of money. Put it on Youtube, get 5M views and you're making $25-$30k. What would ostensibly make it entertaining relies somewhat on authenticity. If it does become a viral hit that just breeds more inauthentic attempts at viral videos.
Or just call me a dork, either way.
Mormons are no joke on the court!
Lol I agree...thought I was reading the science channel forums for a min there.
That could be a good thing. Buffers against the steady loss of IQ points from reading nothing but attendance & uniform threads.
I went to college at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago way back in the early 1970's with (mostly) a lot of dorky white boys. One evening I convinced some guys to go to Keating Hall (the gym on campus) to play hoops and this one lily-white farm boy is showing me some serious vertical but absolutely no skills. His guy must have been all of 5' 10" tall. So I asked him to stand under the rim and jump as high as he could flat footed. His elbow was near the rim. Geez.
I had to laugh at "looks fake" qualified as "science talk."
