While it got to close for comfort, we never trailed once in today's game...

pretty impressive to do that. And we scored 27 seconds into it on Frazier's 3. 0-0 to begin the game was the only time it was even tied and that lasted only 27 seconds. So we led for 39 min and 33 seconds in a 40 min game. Not bad, huh? :) Way to go Gators!!!!

I guess we had it under control. Did we get a little complacent?

Such a competitive team. The last couple of games really reminded me of the 2007 NCAA tournament, when teams like Purdue, Butler, and Oregon pushed us to the brink in nearly every game, but couldn't get over the hump.

Whatever. UF lucked out at the end of that game. No points in the final 90 seconds is not ufs best work.

How did they "luck out"? We only went to the line twice, both on one and ones because we couldn't buy a foul call in the second half. And we only had two possessions in the final 90 seconds.

They lucked out in the sense that UK had three different chances to win the game. They missed two shots and slipped on the final possession. UF gave UK a window, and ended up being fortunate that UK didn't make them pay for it.

Had UK made one of the first two shots, then they wouldn't have failed on the last possession and given us a chance to run a set.

Has there been another game this year where we had clear control of the game and then let the opponent come back and nearly win? I'm glad we held on, but this game brought me back to last year's SEC final as well as 2011 and 2012 elite eight losses to Butler and Louisville where we had significant leads that we blew in the last 10 or so minutes. The turnovers and bricked free throws very nearly cost us.

We are an extremely good team, we manhandled a very talented team for the majority of the game, it's hoops stuff like this happens.

It was clear from Billy press conference that he didn't think Wilbekin's defense of Harrison on the last play was luck, which in turn forced him to dish to young who was coming too fast to get to the lane with Fraziers defensive position.

Not fair to this team to confuse great defense with luck.

I do get the fact though that we could have prevented having to deal with a final play like that if we had made some FT...

You don't know the difference between good defense and luck.

Florida State comes to mind. Kansas was close. And those games were at home. This was a much, much more daunting scenario, playing a highly talented team we had beaten twice on a very partial neutral floor and in a third game in as many days. It has even less in common with the Butler or Louisville games.

Always fun to have the football fans show up at the end of the basketball season and post criticisms. I'd say stick around for the whole season sometime, but it would be an exercise in futility ;)

They played good defense all game. Defense wasn't the issue. The issue was only 3 made baskets in the final 10 minutes vs. 6 turnovers and allowing a team to put together a 14-0 run.

Listen, when you are winning by 1 point with 90 seconds left, and you give a team an offensive rebound, and 2 shots at the basket, plus a final possession with the shot clock off after you miss back-to-back 1 and 1s, you just have to admit that good fortune was on your side a bit. Last year, UF didn't get these bounces and breaks in close games, and the defense was statistically better than this year.

Still a good win, but it was easily their worst last 10 minutes of the year.

I am usual critical of late game collapses.
But third game in three days, trying to beat a talented team for the 3rd time in what was basically a road game, and trying to win a league championship and our 26th straight game.
They get a pass and props for bringing home the first tournament title in 7 years.

So did the refs, but that doesn't matter now.

Oh excuse me. Clearly that was UF's best last 10 minutes of bball ever and any criticism at all makes me not a basketball fan. Jeez. And all I said was they got a bit lucky. I'm not even being that critical. They had their foot on Kentuckys throat for 30 minutes of the game. Only good teams can do that.

Gators seem to have created a whole lot of their own luck this season. This was brought on by savvy play, tenacious defense, great preparation, and superb coaching.

For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction... We will/have all year, always reacted...

They say luck is what happens when preparation meets opportunity. Clearly UF is a talented, well-coached, team. But they were last year too and they lost a lot of these close games. It's not an insult to be lucky. It wasn't blind luck or in any way undeserved. But UF was fortunate that things went the way they did in the final 90 seconds. That's all I'm trying to say.

Consider in the last possession if when Young slipped, the ball squirted to an open man who hit a 3, (similar to the UCONN game), that would have been unlucky. See what I mean?
