Actually I was told he was pulled off the golf course and told they were going in after Panetta made the call to go. Maybe he took a quick shower, had a "near beer" with Uncle Joe and played some cards with Reggie while someone was writing his speech claiming credit and another writing the speech with Panetta taking blame if the guy wasn't OBL.

    This seems likely.

From the conservative blog Hot Air:

"Via the Weekly Standard and Ace. If you’re going to go around claiming “I” got Bin Laden, you should probably at least stick it out until the show’s over, no? No wonder he’s off in the corner in the famous “situation room” photo rather than seated in the big chair. He’d probably just walked in.

No, I’m kidding. I don’t think Love’s talking about O being out of the room during the raid itself but rather for a bit during the aftermath. Skip to 6:15 below and watch. He starts off saying what a long day it was, how Obama didn’t end up going on TV until almost midnight, and how he (Love) “sat around.” Then he says:

“Most people were, like, down in the Situation Room and [President Obama] was like, ‘I’m not going to be down there, I can’t watch this entire thing.’”

Then he talks about playing 15 games of spades with O and a couple of other people. My sense of the timeline in the context of him remembering that it was a long day before Obama went on the air is that the card games happened after the raid, during the time when the White House was trying to figure out whether it was really Bin Laden they’d killed and when they should announce it. More than one news outlet published accounts at the time confirming that O was in the room during the raid itself; he’s the one who said, with characteristic Periclesian eloquence, “we got him” after Bin Laden was pronounced EKIA. In fact, follow that last link and note that, contrary to popular belief, they weren’t watching a live feed of the raid itself. They were watching Leon Panetta on a live cam at CIA headquarters relaying information he was getting from the scene of the raid. Bin Laden was killed sometime between 2:30 and 3 p.m. D.C. time (the raid took only 36 minutes), but it wasn’t until 7 p.m. that Obama was told there was a “high probability” that the guy they all thought was Bin Laden was in fact Bin Laden. Nearly four more hours would pass before he addressed the nation.

That’s the time frame that I think Love’s referring to — some point between 3 and 10:45 p.m., while the White House was waiting around for DNA confirmation that “Geronimo” was who they thought he was.
The “entire thing” Love mentions was probably just the identification process, i.e. updates from Panetta on what they were doing to ID the body, how long it would take, and so forth. They were probably talking to foreign diplomats on the video screen too to give them advance notice, something that wouldn’t necessarily require Obama to be there. I bet Love will clarify tomorrow."

If he was in the situation room the whole time, Breitbart would just write that "Obama watches giant TV while fiddling on laptop as America's best get their hands dirty."

    1. Breitbart site is hardly likely to post accurately and truthfully
    2. Even if Obama was playing cards---his playing cards during a situation is still light years better than GWB was.

    bottom lines--
--GWB and his admin pulled major resources away from tracking and taking down OBL in their lust to start a war with methods reminiscent of Hitler's causus belli to invade Poland.
--Obama and his admin made total commitment to kill OBL--and did so

so even if Obama was playing cards---mission accomplished in killing OBL(this in direct contradiction to ultra con claims that Obama would welcome OBL into America with open arms so OBL could take over America)

I have to say, it is enjoyable seeing the lengths the conservative media will go to deny any sort of positive achievement to Obama (well, except for turning America into a socialist dystopia, that is). Also, you might want to limit the "knee pad" references, this seems to be a safe stand-by for you for any type of response that doesnt nod along with a ridiculous post. Try to mix it up a little, its getting a little stale.

From my posts I think most folks know I'm no supporter of Obama's policies.

When we as conservatives nit-pick at every little thing about Obama - just as the Left did with GWB - we undermine our valid criticisms of his flawed policies...we are the proverbial boy crying wolf. In this case, OBL was taken out when Obama was President. He didn't screw it up. Good for him AND good for US. I don't care if he was pleasuring Michelle, himself or Barney Frank when it actually happened. It happened on his watch - he gets credit.

Our current media keeps the whining going 24/7 and I don't think it's healthy for us as individuals nor for our country as a whole. Our strategy should take a page from Pareto's principle of focusing on 20% of the things that are important to and affect 80% of the people instead of talking about 100% of all things Obama that only 5% of the populace care about and the other 95% get turned off and tune out.

Patently false. Iraq was a mechanized war until well after the initial invasion. Afghanistan was a special operations and light infantry war, even now. Sending tanks to Iraq that were not needed in Afghanistan is not pulling major resources from doing anything.

Obama and his admin didn't kill OBL. SEAL Team 6 killed OBL.

Just for giggles, if Undergraduate Obama were playing spades in the back of the hall at an intro political science lecture, that would be... bad form, right? A thing a good and attentive student wouldn't do, because it's disrespectful for one, but for another, it actively prevents the student from paying attention, learning, and knowing what's going on?

Is it really too much to ask that he be able to sit through and pay attention to something just marginally more important than an undergraduate lecture? Especially since he is the last word on all decisions to be made about the process?

I quoted from the conservative blog Hot Air without comment.

Besides I quit installing wood flooring decades ago and don't have any knee pads.

It already happened. They were waiting - hours apparently - for the post mortem to be delivered third hand on an event that took just over 30 minutes.

At least he wasn't reading a goat story to children for seven minutes. Now that would have been really bad.
