The fake was an incomplete forward pass. The fact that the officials allowed it doesn't negate the fact that they failed to get it.
I think that's the definition of them not failing to get it.

The question was not about the other team failing to get the first down/TD, but us stopping them. LSU did not convert a legal fake field goal against us in 2010. Ergo and ipso facto we stopped them. They were granted a first down by the officials. Now I can't say I feel good about the way we played that fake, but it is the correct answer to the OP's question. :yes:
