I love to get away to the mountains... usually different areas to find nice, peaceful streams.

But, it has to be relatively close to a decent restaurant and a cozy motel. :) (I ain't gettin' any younger)

I'm talkin' OUTSIDE the home, (otherwise my getaway would be my favorite watering zone!:)

I Like to spend time in my shop. There is always something to tinker with or build.

If you meant vacation getaway spot, I do not have one. I hate to travel. I'm boring.

My wife and I loved to go to St. Martin, great beaches, great food and the scenery is pretty good too. That was before the last hurricanes, I don't know how hard they were hit.

You preferred the English side as opposed to the Dutch?

As far as Hurricanes Irma and Maria, they unfortunately caused major damag.:(

Repairs to the hotels are prioritized, but it will take more time for the smaller marketplaces and such.

We always went to the French side, the restaurants, sunrise, and Orient beach.

Sanibel Island. Then there was that secluded cabin on a stream in the woods outside of Wasilla, Alaska when the salmon were running...

A specific place? If money were no object, I would say a cruise ship where I can sit on the back of the ship in relative peace, so usually before the masses are awake.

On a more realistic side, it would be in my back yard when there is a nice, warm, gentle breeze, plenty of birds flitting about and no mowers or string trimmers out. Get a nice beer and good conversation and that is nirvana.

Our McCall cabin is about 50 miles by air from the Middle Fork. We did a week long float trip on the Middle Fork many years ago.

Best -- Mill Spring NC. I love West Carolina and East Tennessee (unfortunately Vols are everywhere).

Closest - East Side of Lake Crescent - Crescent City Florida. No development. Great sandbar and the alligators are friendly :)

I actually prefer the mountains to the beach, but we've got a place on St. George Island that's pretty nice. And it's closer than the mountains.
