Bill, he's done some things right and he's done some things wrong. I still prefer him to a Republican president.

You always accuse me of defending him here, but look at the ridiculous accusations you guys throw out day after day. Your charter school thread, for example. Claimed Obama's against them. We produced his quotes praising them. You said his actions speak louder than his words, but your only example had nothing to do with charter schools.
Or the travel claim. Every single president has traveled more than his predecessor with zero complaints from the right. Now you guys are pretending it's an outrage that Obama has traveled three more days than his predecessor?

That's why you get so much pushback. The laughable complaints day after day.

Politics isn't zero sum. There have always been things I trust Dems on, and plenty of things I don't (see NSA, civil liberties, neo-liberal economics). Nothing has changed there, especially since I don't tend to view those issues that I don't trust Dems on as partisan issues (in other words, the Republicans don't present a significant alternative). Most of what passes for "defending" Obama here is on dumb partisan stuff, like vacations and other things presidents have always done, but now its the worst thing in the world.

Not sure anyone's even answered Bill's question yet, although, I do think it's kind of a strange hypothetical that isn't easy to answer.

Except for the fact that miles traveled is not the best way to compare a travel "budget" and to see the actual cost/s of these vacations. Distances and the amount of vacations are a useless metric when discussing the cost of these extravagant expenditures.

That, too, is incomplete given you'd need to convert older presidents' dollars into real dollars and compare them to annual revenue and overall budget.

It's a point that river never made... I'm more upset over his flat-out lies about the healthcare.

He'd have to attack another country for no real reason and appoint whackos like John Bolton all over the government.

    Things of that nature.

maybe starting a war on a sovereign nation that posed no threat to us. and then occupying it for a decade. i'd pretty much lose faith in him then. you can take that to the bank.

and for the record, i've NEVER said the dems were perfect. i've always said they were just preferable to the rightwing.

Bill you are a puppetmaster. Seriously, did you really expect the answers to be any different at all? Just more confirmation of what has become so painfully obvious.

And Japan wasn't in a recession during the decade of 2000-2010 (called the lost decade). Try convincing the Japanese people. If it walks like a "peking" duck, quacks like a "peking" duck....it ain't a chicken. We may not be in a recession "technically" but the economic stagnation felt by most of the country feels eerily similar to the "malaise" of a certain other liberal president in the late 70s.

And foreign policy...another rerun. Can't believe Zero has not called Jimmy for advice.

Didn't take long to devolve into anti-Obama folks criticizing the president's travel budget. :)

Oh goodie. I get to play your childish game. He didn't say conservatives. He said 'pubs'. Words matter, remember? I am not a 'pub'. I very well may have voted for fewer 'Pubs' than you in the past couple of elections. But you have failed to understand the difference between Republicans and Conservatives for years.

Now that we have taken care of yet another avoidance of a straightforward question that Bill asked, would you like to actually answer it instead of 'somewhat' answering it?

But Bush.... 5 years later. One day we as a people will realize using someone else for reasoning to justify either an action or decision will never help us move "forward".

Never mind it is practically human nature to do so....

I bet the next president no matter what political affiliation will say, but Bush and Obama... haha
