I do not understand these decisions. What is one more year? Especially if given the effort, you come away with a degree. At least you would know that you took advantage of every opportunity given. Its not like they are in some poor country being shot at every day. Other than the fear of an injury, it is a no brainer. Get the degree and another opportunity to play as a senior and improve your stock. One more year surrounded by beautiful women and playing the game you love. If these guys were honest with themselves, they just do not want to put forth the effort in the class room. Not all of them, but a good majority.

Feel bad for RoPo, although he must have known that his so-so performance last year after he was injured would prompt caution in the NFL. Purifoy should not be surprised at all. He would not have started next year except for special teams where he excelled. Roberson was a good college CB who wasn't able to start enough games for the NFL to take a chance on. He will make it as a free agent, but probably won't be a starter for a while.

It was a deep draft class, but without talking to each one of these guys specifically and knowing what was being considered in their decision making process, I'll refrain from saying "what they should've done".

Will Muschamp has begun his fourth season as UF coach. Being "new" isn't an excuse for anything anymore. (Roberson was a Muschamp guy, BTW.) ... Not that I think you can directly blame WM for this or that decision to leave, but I wonder about the spirit of the program -- and you can blame him for that.

    Louchie signed with the Colts.

I believe Robe signed with the Rams.

Good luck to both of them

More than enough money to come back and pay for that last year if they so choose, though.

Just because they only had 1 more year doesn't mean they would get a degree. Guys put off their hardest classes and/or the main courses for their major until the last possible semester. If you have 3 straight semesters of core degree classes plus football commitments it could seem pretty daunting. Even with all the academic help some people aren't cut out for it.

It is a good lesson to all current Gator football players.

Just because Kiper or others have you in the mock back in August, it doesn't mean you will get drafted.

It's far better to play as hard as you can, drop the entitled attitude, learn some technique, and then listen to your coaches about coming out. And when in doubt- stay in school and get another year of seasoning.

Yeah seriously! Where does that leave time for weekly bath salt sessions. The ncaa should really take a hard look at this whole classwork in college thing. I mean do they even know how long it takes to eat a whole face in one sitting? Some cheeks take a little more chewing than others. :)

A record 98 underclassmen declared for the NFL draft this year.......36 were not selected. Wowzer!!

Eagles coach Chip Kelly said on ESPN he prefers draftees with degrees. Six of the seven Eagles' picks have either graduated or are on track to graduate this semester. The seventh, Wisconsin defensive tackle Beau Allen, is reportedly 14 credit hours short.
"No. 1, I think [graduating] shows you the intelligence factor, and No. 2, it shows that they're committed to establishing goals and following through on their goals," Kelly said. "You're going to face some adversity, whether it's in school or on the football field. You've got a bunch of driven guys, and that's evidence that they are driven."

    That speaks volumes!

They can still go back to school and graduate. If they make the team then they probably made the right decision. People said last year before the draft Jordan Reed made the wrong decision when obviously he made the right one. Now some of there off the field stuff was clearly the wrong decisions.

UDFA also only can get 3 year deals so if they actually stick around in the league they will be thankful they didn't get drafted when they get to their 2nd contract a year or two early.

    http://www.gatorsports.com/article/...?Title=Muschamp-mixed-on-Gators-draft-results

Two juniors Muschamp did sympathize with were linebacker Ronald Powell and cornerback Marcus Roberson. Powell slipped to the fifth round before New Orleans took him, while Roberson went undrafted and signed a free-agent contract Monday with the St. Louis Rams.

“There's no question Marcus will make that team,” Muschamp said. “I'm shocked he was not picked. I don't really understand that part of it. The draft is a lot like recruiting. It's not an exact science. It's all in the eye of the beholder, and sometimes your opinion may be different from someone else's.

“Ronald Powell is a guy that went through a lot of adversity. I think he made the right decision in coming out. It's frustrating for him with the way things went there, but he'll be fine. He's a guy that's heavy handed. He can play in the early downs and give you some pass rush on third down. I know (Saints defensive coordinator) Rob Ryan really liked him when he was in Gainesville for Pro Day.”

I'm glad the DB's left to be honest. Without that we don't get Tabor.
