We get called for a delay of game. Muschamp explodes.
In general, I agree. Our greatest strength offensively right now is our line run blocking, especially out of the heavy packages, so we would be crazy not to give them a substantial dose of it in the Florida heat. All the more so given that those run packages are already on film (thus you aren't showing Miami anything they haven't already seen) and given that Toledo's ball control spread wants to to run a ton of plays and keep your offense off the field. The last thing we want is injury or fatigue on the part of our defense in the first game.
On the other hand, though, we need to establish the passing game from the outset. We want to get Driskel into the sort of game rhythm we lacked so much of last season. We want the freshmen receivers to get their feet wet and gain some confidence early. We also don't have our best run blocker in Halapio or our starting running back, so reducing our early offense to a power rushing attack might not be as effective as we would otherwise like.
I suspect we see a pretty balanced attack, with lots of short, quick passes and power run packages on early downs, then an occasional shot down the field when we are running the ball well and have picked up a couple of first downs.
Toss play or Sweep....outside run
For the last three years we haven't had a choice.
Miami's next week, I think we might actually open it up a bit and try and establish rhythm- now if Jeff opens 1-3 or throws a pick, Boom will probably take over play calling and we'll run it 50 times and only pass on 3rd down from there on out, but we try to open it up early.
Just having a little fun here. Not being a negative Nelly. Seriously, I think Boom will try to establish his running game with an inside run between the tackles...
Mack Brown power off the left side with Patton in motion from left to right..either way it's a run with our without the motion...
Why bother when they can just read your snarky drivel? Has the same effect.
Dunbar on deep post/corner/fly
It will be the post. Decent throw, amazing catch, crowd goes wild
That joke isn't funny anymore.
MB up the middle for 7 yards. Line up. Repeat 5 times. Then unveil our shiny new receiver toy for 20 yards over the middle...and Gator fans starting dialing Atlanta hotels for early December reservation because Gator fans can go from worried to overly optimistic in no time.
That's more Jones' specialty. With Brown starting, I think we punch them in the nose and run him between the tackles. He hits the hole fast and clean. I think he'll get six or seven yards if they run that on first down. Wouldn't be surprised to see a play action pass, but I don't think it will be a long one.
3 yards and a cloud of dust
What are more culturally relevant analogies then?
You missed this one, rserina.
Good call. Thanks. I never really liked them myself, though Girlfriend in a Coma was sort of a funny song.
Murphy under center and Driskel split out wide. A run up the middle.
