Woo, UF up by 3 thanks to a 3 run 3rd inning. Currently game is in the top of the 5th inning, Redbirds have a man on 3rd base, 1 out. Pitching change, Young for Morales.

Young gives up a single, Redbirds score 1 run. Score is now 3-1, top of the 5th inning, man on 1st, still only 1 out.

Young walks a batter, two on at 1st and 2nd, still only 1 out. Hope for a double play to end this Redbird rally.

Hot dang. After giving up a single and a walk, Young strikes out the next two batters to get out of the inning. Go Gators!

So the good news continues. After managing to only give up 1 run in the top of the 5th (was looking shaky for a bit) the Gator bats come out in the bottom of the 5th to add 3 more runs. Game is now 6-1 in favor of the Gators.

Well 6th and 7th innings were quiet, but Rhodes imploded for the Gators in the top of the 8th, with the Redbirds scoring 2 runs off of him. Now the game is 6-3 and there are Redbirds loading the bases. Hope for Harris to pitch the Gators out of this mess.

Crap, game has suddenly gotten tight in the top of the 8th. Gator pitching is struggling. Redbirds have scored 3 runs and the game is now 6-4 in favor of the Gators. Bases are still loaded, and there's two outs (Harris got two strikeouts before being lifted). *sigh* Gators using their 4th pitcher of the inning with Poyner.

And Poyner gives up a run and it's now 6-5 still in the top of the 8th. Bases are still loaded and two outs. Come on Poyner (or someone) get that last out!

Now E. Hanhold is in for Poyner. Hope Eric can get this out to preserve the Gator lead.

And the Gators get that 3rd out! Game is 6-5 heading into the bottom of the 8th (hope the Gator bats can help extend that lead back out a few to give a few more insurance runs considering the Gator pitching of late).

After a shaky top of the 8th pitching by the Gators giving up 4 runs, the Gators start the bottom of the 8th with a double by Gushue, followed by a bunt for a single by Mattison to advance Gushue to 3rd, and then a single by Powers to score Gushue! Gators get a run! Game is 7-5. Woo!

Shafer grounds out but advances Mattison to 3rd and Powers to 2nd. Tobias is intentionally walked to load the bases with 1 out. Farhman in to pitch hit for Reed. Pitch goes full count and then they walk Farhman which walks Mattison home. Gators increase their lead to 8-5. Bases still loaded with 1 out (Czeszewski is not having fun having come in to pitch for Illinois St this inning).

Top of the batting order for the Gators. Martin hits a single, lead is now 9-5, still only 1 out, bases still loaded. Come on Gators, pour it on!!!! :)

Turgeon!!!!! Grand slam, thank you Ma'am (or Sir if you prefer)!

13-5 Gators in the bottom of the 8th. Nice bounce back after the pitching gave up 4 runs in the top of the 8th!

8th inning isn't over yet. Gators have managed to load the bases again, now with 2 outs and Shafer at bat. Nuts Shafer grounds out. But 7 runs in the 8th inning, that I'll take! ;)

Dunning to pitch the top of the 9th. Gators 3 outs away from a win.
Hollenbeck flies out, 2 outs to go.
Leverett strikes out, 1 out to go.
    Johnson strikes out, ball game!

Thanks for the updates. Maybe the bats are getting ready in time for SEC play.

No problem, glad I could be of some use. The bats definitely came through tonight. Good job by Gushue, Mattison, and Turgeon. I'm surprised Illinois St. left Czeszewski in there so long in the bottom of the 8th inning when it was clear he was struggling but glad they did ;) Hopefully Rhodes bounces back as he had a rocky top of the 8th inning pitching for the Gators.
