Important to learn how to win close games but we were a bit lucky to win. Hopefully next time we will play better down the stretch. Glad we won and can learn for next time.

and I'd say FSU was lucky too. Lucky the refs seemed to throw out the new rules tonight for fsu

Refs were atrocious. If we had lost they would be the reason. Ticky tack fouls on us all night and FSU was allowed to murder us.

Donovan was ironically pretty complementary of the referees after the game. He said they were consistent in their calls at both ends. His problem was that they essentially ignored the rule changes and that is what frustrated him at first.

If that half-court shot would have gone in at the end....I would be in a state of permanent depression. :(

I thought we had a lot of good plays down the stretch while FSU was kind of getting bailed out to keep it close using trip after trip to the FT line (some more deserved than others) while we were scoring FGs.

I also have the feeling FSU's 2 big guys played about as well as they possibly can. That big Ojo guy or whatever his name was got away with some leading elbows on his way to the basket. The refs should be calling that when the elbow comes up like a chicken wing in our defender's chest!

Pretty standard Hamilton team. Foul and foul and force the refs to make the calls. Their bigs were grabbing Pat and pulling him down and the other guys would rebound. I was surprised the Gators won the rebounding battle.

I never much care for all this "close game" wins and losses analysis based on a 5- or 6-point final spread. Lots of extremely close games turn into double-digit spreads in the final minute, and lots of blowouts turn into close margins in the final minute. Yesterday's game, we were up by 8 with less than 3 minutes, and it turned into a squeaker. With a couple less mistakes by us or misses by them, it could have turned into a 15-point spread.

Wow, all I could think of was losing to the Noles twice in a weekend. It would have ruined my holiday vibe.
Glad we won, but missing all the FT's down the stretch I was wondering if our guys were playing too many minutes. Hopefully Kasey Hill will heal up and provide depth and Chris Walker comes in. As for Harris, I wonder what does a player do to get in the doghouse as far as billy thinks is warranted. If harris leaves, we will need bigs for next year with none signed. Oh well, I am glad we won.. of course this was the Criminoles.! As for winning a close game, we scrapped our way to a rivalry game win. That is great for me and all Gators.

Heathly and fully loaded from injuries, discipline issues and eligibility problems we win by 20 plus over the Criminoles.

On a side note Eli Carter actually looked a bit better on his feet last night. He made a strong move to the basket only to miss 2 free throws badly. Maybe he is starting to get over the hump a little bit.

We had good looks and open lanes all night.
    Our FT shooting was awful.
Should have been a blow out.
Sometimes you can't explain why a team cannot get the ball in the hole.
Frazier played well, but I think he was lagging a bit on defense.

IMO, Carter is a bit of a liability defensively and needs to redshirt. Seems like a waste of a yr of eligibility. I would rather Jr get those 5-7 minutes.

    No "should's" in life

If we can't make the tough free throws and the other team does, it will be close

He will take the redshirt. He has until I believe the Memphis game, but I suspect he sits once Walker is back.

If the box score I looked at was correct, FSU hit 20 of 23 shots, and this in an away game against one of their arch rivals.

The ball bounced their way yesterday.
