You have no clue what you are talking about, so I will leave it at that.
Again, Rick, oversimplifying. Are you equating our two losses to Driskel's "two bad games"? I already said this in the thread, but we rushed 58 times against LSU. That is not a good or bad game for Driskel. It's barely a game at all.
Against South Carolina, Driskel had 94 passing yards. Today, Murphy had 92. Yet we blew out USCe. The difference, of course, was the great field position that the defense and special teams units gave to Driskel.
What I'm saying is that Driskel did not get us to 11-2 last year, just like Murphy did not lose two games this year. It is a team effort. When you evaluate the individual performances of the two QBs in an intellectually honest way, I think it's pretty clear who has done better given the circumstances.
After trying to be as fair and optimistic as I could possibly be....now, after several games of watching the OL play, I am convinced that even Joe Montana would not wake up on Saturday morning looking forward to the game that day playing behind our OL.
Nor Marino....Manning...Bart friggin Starr....Joe Namath...etc.
Our problems...IMO...do not fall onto Murph. He is under the gun virtually EVERY play. As the old adage goes, games are won in the trenches and our trench is now a full blown rut. We lose the games at the LOS. Period.
Therein lies where the problem needs to be addressed.
Agree completely. People saying we "miss" Driskel are kidding themselves. His job in this offense was to not screw up. He's a good runner, but he is extremely limited in his abilities as a passer. He looked completely lost in the pocket whereas Murphy looked very comfortable before the O-line started playing like they are now. He made multiple throws against Arkansas and Kentucky that Driskel simply can't make.
Speaking of that o-line. I was speechless watching them today.
Thinking to the future, if you're Grier or his parents, you'd be concerned about the offensive scheme and OL play. As good as he is, you've gotta question his ability to succeed in the status quo. This is now 3-4 years of inept offense with lots of finger pointing but with no progression.
I hate to see us loose, but losing like this versus the other higher scoring, exciting offenses really cuts the bone.
Let's hope WM and Foley can right the ship.
No way you can blame the offensive woes on Driskel but the guy was really struggling and it is impossible not to have seen that. He was routinely throwing passes right to defenders and fumbling on sacks. Murphy has some limitations (like not being able to block defensive linemen for himself) but he manages the game much better than Driskel. We were just lucky to find a QB who has some better fundamentals but way less upside. If the offense was more 'together' Driskel would probably be amazing.
Jeff Driskel throws the football better than Murphy . If anything Jeff makes throws Murphy cant and they have had to take plays out of the playbook because of it. Murphy is much better at feeling pressure and escaping it.
Driskel may have a stronger arm, but he is not a better passer at all. Murphy has a much better feel for the game and makes those throws on the run that Driskel would just throw to the other team.
Murphy is missing Trey Burton when he is right in front of him for a TD
murphy has regressed in the last 2 games--driskel may beat him out next year
Completely agree. Driskel is more talented, Murphy is a smarter QB. Driskel is also a much better runner. Murphy is elusive in the poket but not really a great runner (yes he's fast I know). He hasn't done anything with his legs the last two weeks. He will have to if we're going to win anymore games this year.
And Driskel is throwing it to the other team.
I don't post and rarely read the board much anymore. The reason I don't even get on here anymore is just the pure stupidity out of the mouths of the "respected" posters on here. Gatoraz? Are you kidding? Go watch some more high school tapes and tell us about our great recruits. Are DeMarcus Robinson's nuts still tasting good. And are we still the overwhelming favorite to win it all next year. Holy hell how do you people stay around and listen to these jackasses.
who said I was respected? It looks like you read the board a lot lol. I still like Robinson's potential and I still like our roster next year if healthy. What does any of what you said have to do with this thread?
Most of us know AZ does not have a complete understanding of football but he means well....I guess. Well no he dosen't but he's a Gator so we have to love him.
Yes to hard on JD and Coaches for not giving Tyler M a chance!
what was funny about that?
D-Rob will be very good in time. I've seen him play in person and he can ball. The o-line will not allow him to show it this year.
In regards to the OP: yeah, you think?!
