Are you saying it was any different for JD ????
We know that the OL cannot block yet we call plays that rely on their inability to do so....Call plays that are designed to beat an aggressive rush....draws, sweeps to the wide side of the field, options, quicker rollouts.....It's not rocket science.

    Ol

The answer to your question is no.

i think we had the same issue with JD. It was very apparent today, more than any other time, our O Line is awful.

We tried screens, rollouts, etc.. The plays didn't worked. How many times did JD get his screens batted down?

I don't see how this could be the fault of Pease. I disagree with some of his calls, but the 6 sacks and the untold times Murphy got smashed after the play I put on the O Line and Tim Davis first.

    We have a problem.

Again, I have to disagree with the bolded part. Murphy has lost two games, both of which were to teams tougher than Miami. While I think Driskel would have fared no better (and possibly worse) against LSU and Mizzou, I also think we would have beat Miami with Murphy.

And not trying to bash Jeff or anything. He is a talented kid. Murphy is just more poised and polished right now. But no amount of QB poise would have overcome the horrific OL performance we saw today.

Yes we tried screens and they didn't work because the DE knew we don't run a draw play EVER....Our rollouts take WAY TOO long to develop...they need to be quick throws....Another thing I've noticed is we use very little pre snap motion this year.
These are some things most teams with a s----y OL use to move the ball.

Funny thing, Driskel beat LSU and Mizzouri last year.

Let's get something straight. We ran the ball FIFTY EIGHT times against LSU last year. You can't sit here with a straight face and tell me that "Driskel beat LSU." Second, both of those were home games last year. Not exactly apples and apples compared this this year's games. Lastly, our OL performance and injury count was nowhere near as bad last year.

I'll say it again: I think Murphy beats Miami, and Driskel doesn't beat Mizzou or LSU this year given the same circumstances that Murphy faced.

Nicho, Miami beat us. Their defense stepped up when they need to. i know it makes our blood curdle to say it, but they beat us. As did LSU and Mighty Mizzou.

Worm, I am fine with that. You say it like I'm in denial. I'm not.

The only reason I bring this up is to counter the notion that we miss Driskel.

I agree with you, but I doubt we would have beaten Miami with murphy, either. We never know for sure until they play the games. During the Tennessee game, Murphy had three balls that would have been sure INTs against a good defense. He had close calls against kentucky and Arkansas as well. Against LSU, he struggled against a team that other team did not struggle as badly against.

A lot of Gators are still under the delusion that Miami is mediocre and we "gave it to them." It is utterly absurd, and it should be more and more evident as the season progresses. We are simply not very good this year, and for the first time, the defense also was weak, giving up 500 yards, with 214 in the first half.

Miami was a much more closely contested game than LSU or Mizzou. We beat them in most statistical categories except for the one that counts most (scoreboard).

It is my opinion that we win that game with Murphy. It is your opinion that we don't. Not much else to say.

Who has Murphy beaten? No one team that's any good.

Agree. But the way it is looking, it appears more and more likely that we played our B game against Miami in moving the ball and stooping their offense, while they played their D game against us. They are better than any opponent we have except for LSU and maybe Mizzou (not at all certain of that).

Delete this thread. It's absurd. Watch the freakin' games and if you do, then you have a real problem in your assessment skills.

Rick, I'm not sure this is an intellectually honest question. In "Murphy's" two losses, the OL played as poorly as it has the past 2 years. I think you have to look past wins and losses with each QB at the helm to assess their respective performances. I also kinda think you already know this.

Peyton Manning would look horrible in this offense. Actually, the coaches would probably have him on the bench with Mornhinweg as the starter.

You can say the exact same thing about Driskel's two bad game last year. And Driskel still got us to 11-2.
