    Lady Gators down by 24 @ the half (37-15). Shooting 16% FG & 0% from 3.

VT was picked to finish 13th in the ACC

Early on VT seems to be quite improved from last year with a slew of new int'l and juco players. In their first two games, they beat two teams that finished above them in last year's RPI by 52 at home and 14 on the road.

That said, the first half for the Gators was one of the worst halves of basketball I have ever seen. Most of the 3's missed were airballs to go along with an unbelievable number of missed layups and even more unforced turnovers. Not really sure how you find any positives to take from this one. Hopefully the 2nd half will at least be more respectable.

Is this the first road game of the year? Maybe thats why they got out to a slow start. Looks like Bannister and Williams were in foul trouble as well. Down by 11 with about a min left

    Lost 71-59.

Pretty well played 2nd half actually, got within 4 with 4 minutes left. Just too big of a hole when you're down 24 at the half though. Credit to the girls for fighting - hopefully they can build on the 2nd half here.

zoiks, glad I didn't tune into that first half. WBB isn't on my radar just yet....[need to remember to start checking the schedules more frequently]...

staged a nice comeback in the 2nd half, but there are no moral victories this season. need wins!
forget the 1st half, and build on that 2nd half and get the W's!

Wow, a double digit loss to what is supposed to be a bad team is not the most promising result in the first road game of the season.

I'm afraid it is going to be another mediocre, at best, season for Butler and UF.

Games like this where we lose to bad teams is one of the main reasons she will not be around to coach a good recruit class. 10th in the sec is one thing if you beat all the bad teams on your schedule. But we don't.

Get a grip (my new favorite phrase! LOL!)

I firmly believe if she can't get it done this year (as in show marked improvement) she will be let go.

Hopefully this was a blip and not a sign of whats to come this year.

Sometimes these "bad teams" turn out to be good as you look back later in the season.

Thing is, our schedule doesn't lend us much wiggle room when it comes to gaining an NCAA at-large bid. If we are in the 20-10/18-12 area again, we will be right back in the NIT due to our weak OOC. We are going to have to pull off some big upsets in conference play.

It is so early in the season, I'm not sure "upset" is an appropriate term yet.
