Looks like they will be streaming coach Butler's press conference at 1:40 this afternoon on Gatorvision for anyone interested and/or bored at work.

Dimaite out with a torn ACL (again).

Just started practice and the team's already down to 9 players. Yikes.

I wondered when this information would be released. Depth has worried me about this season given the rate of injuries in the women's game. We can absorb one of these but any more and it would be terrible. We need post help so this hurts. Help is on the way but not until 2014.

Tough break...Kid has a lot heart to keep at it. In terms of #'s, 9 isnt bad just as long as there arent anymore season ending injuries. I believe Uconn has nine players as does Fsu and i think Tenn only has 10 as well.

Whats the thoughts on the line-up, Im guessing:

    Peoples Needles
    Bonds Miller
    Williams Bannister
    Lewis >< Svete
    Mercer

The post is going to suffer tremendously with only one player over 6 feet.

Irrespective of Dimaite's injury, it seems Butler has a whole new offense in the works for this season (more of a motion system maybe?). The 1 or even no post offense has worked well for a number of teams in the women's college game, so it will be interesting to see if Butler and crew can implement this style successfully.

Injuries are not causing the depth issues- it is multiple players leaving UF after the season.

If depth becomes an issue, it is on the coach. It is not bad luck when UF's better young players don't stay in the program.

No where did I state that injuries caused the depth issue. We had a depth issue because of the transfers. everyone knows that. This just makes it worse.

Terrible news on Dimaite; feel bad for her.

Going with only nine players is not good; can't even hold a scrimmage.

I wonder if there is any chance Amanda can scare up a walk on or two?

I am really curious to see the offense. Butler's teams always bring intensity and defense but sometimes struggled on offense. I really like the sound of what they are working on because it allows them to play more naturally. I also think at times UF relied a little too much on George in the post..she was a good player but undersized. I think we will see a lot more 3's this year which I am happy about. I think the style will be a little more fun to watch, especially for the casual fan. Peoples, Needles, Bannister, and Svete are all considered excellent shooters and Miller was very good from 3 last year as well.

EastTN, Wouldn't the diversity of Ronni Williams game be a plus in this type of offense? I defer to your knowledge of the players; much greater than mine.

I would think so.... of course Ronni would help any system. I think the biggest difference in this year's squad is going to be that we have a lot of really good perimeter shooters.
