cards score 2 more in the 7th
lead the 'dores 4-2
Louisville holds on for the win. #1 overall seed Vandy in trouble. Elsewhere Mississippi State defeated Virginia and NC State rallied in the 9th for the walkoff win.
Although I wounldn't shed a tear over vanderbilt losing
I've gone to Omaha twice when the Gators were not even there. I've never been to a Final 4, but been to pretty much everything else in college sports. The only event to come close to the Omaha experience for me was the Army-Navy football game. Those would be 1a and 1b for me. Both are alot more than just the games.
Certainly the CWS is hands-down the best value in sports. Those bleacher seats are really cheap - and when you're there to take in every game, as I was once, and paying for your three sons to see every game with you, that value thing gets to be a pretty big deal.
Thank goodness the experience stayed in Omaha!! TD has its own character and hopefully the big corp greed stays away and seats will always be affordable. Most of the time you can the reserved seats for close to face.
Sent from my SPH-L710 using Gator Country
I will be watching. Sucks Gators aren't there, glad the Holes aren't either.
There's a whole lotta attitude in this Louisville-Vandy game. Louisville came looking for a fight, figuratively and possibly literally too from the way things are going. So far they're backing it up.
cards up in the middle of the 7th over vandy, 2-1. 'dores trying to force a 3rd game.
gamecocks won big over UNC - arent they the over all #1 seed? - 8-0 to force a 3rd.
rice trying to force a 3rd, up 3-1 in their game w/ NCSU end of 7
vandy goes down
2-1 cards on to omaha
nc state scored 3 in the top of the 9th to tie it up w/ rice at 4-all
Feel kind of sad for Vandy fans. Always good in baseball, sometimes great in regular season, but never seem to get it done in the post season. I think they have only made one trip to Omaha. And its not like they are competitive in that many sports.
Louisville sports, on the other hand are on quite a roll.
yeah, cards are on a roll.
yeah, key thing is to time when you get your peak performance. i thought vandy had the team to win it all this season. just underperformed in the supers. it happens. which is a lesson for all gator fans that become gator baseball fans late in the season. you know! even the 'best' stumble.
Louisville made a BCS bowl, the men's and womens' Final 4, and the College World Series in the same academic year. I'm gonna go ahead and guarantee that's never been done before.
The women's final four probably is the key.
Love College Baseball. Sucks that the defending national champions Arizona Wildcats didn't get an invite this year (low RPI and SOS), but that's the way college sports works. You know the rules going in and what can happen when you have an easy schedule. Regardless, I've still been watching games every weekend. Never been to a CWS (have been to a Final Four), and it's one of my goals to get to Omaha. My brother happened to be on business in the area last year, and took a day. Said it was easily one of his best sports experiences.
Wow, UNC CF drops a routine fly that would have ended the half inning and preserved a 2-1 lead headed to the bottom of the 5th. Gamecocks now up 3-2 and still batting.
UNC defeats the Gamecocks to complete the Omaha field. South Carolina, like the Gators, will not be going for the first time since 2009.
