and 0's, Reid's, Pelosi's policies and unwillingness to address the debt have probably destroyed or prevented 10 - 20x that many

What about our future generations that we are leaving them 20 trillion plus debt to deal with?

Undoubtedly. Would the left media care to calculate the aggregate number of jobs to be lost when millions have their work week cut to 29 hours? Nah, that wouldn't suite the message.

Besides, the only way to balance the budget is to include the government scaling back on jobs they have taxpayers fund but aren't really necessary. It's going to happen eventually so get used to it. Government jobs are in part, because of the "fat", welfare.

Everything should be on the table, military, subsidies, illegal access to our hospitals, even Bush's prescription plan for seniors.

How many "almost full time jobs" or "full time jobs" have been cut to 29 hours weekly due to the costs associated with ACA? Millions, I would guess. How many jobs have not been added due to the "uncertainty" around costs associated by ACA? Millions I would guess.

Prime examples of the far right not allowing their people to take any of the blame for what has gone on. Both sides have a horse in the race and those burying your head in the sand thinking it will change is a poor approach to it.

i love it - a study that comes out BEFORE the end of the budget/debt crisis about how bad the budget/debt crisis has hurt the economy. Reminds me of Spaceballs where they have a part in the movie that shows the movie has actually been released BEFORE they finished filiming ("...a new breakthough in video technology marketing.").

I'm sure the sequester has caused some loss in jobs. I'm also sure that if the goal was simply jobs; then, instead of using computers and such fancy things as automobiles we should go back to writing hand written letters and the pony express - THINK OF ALL THE JOBS THAT WOULD BE CREATED! (more hotels to comfort the riders, horse handlers to minister to them, more veterinarians...wow...this would be a GREAT creator of jobs!)

Why we send people home then eventually pay them afterwards for staying home MAKES NO FRICKIN SENSE. No private company in the world would do that. I think we should outsource government to Walmart or Apple.

Riddle me this, Nana. If it took $24 billion out of the economy, and at the same time saved $24 billion in federal spending, is that automatically a bad thing? If your children saved money instead of spending it, do you beat them with a stick for not participating in the economy?

The gov't exists to provide services to the American people. Other than a few inconveniences (and details overlooked), most Americans did not miss those services during the shutdown. The national economy during the shutdown was about the same as the economy before the shutdown. What does that tell you about the value of those services, if we don't miss them?

Does it make sense to you that we should waste money (and drive up the debt) just to introduce dollars into the economy?

Most likely these are just glorified bureaucrat jobs. Millions more have been lost or shipped overseas due to over-regulation by the fed. My career was nearly wrecked by an activist federal judge.

Understand big guy. But the fact is the "savings" will eventually paid as back pay. Nothing more than a paid vacation when it all washes out.

Not a big number, not at all. How much does it cost the economy to spend and borrow, make bad loans to companies that never had fair odds to succeed?

What's $24 billion these days with what Obama's wasted? Please, I'd much rather see $24 bill out of the economy if it starts moving us in the right direction. It's a nit.

The GOP is killer at losing jobs for Americans. Here's what cuts to discretionary spending from 2011 to the present have cost the country: 1.2 million jobs and 0.7 percentage points of GDP growth. And that isn't even counting the latest GOP fiasco. Thank you GOP.

Take a look at Trenton NJ for a real lesson (i.e. more than a political hack's graphs) on the liberal destruction of an economy. Trenton was humming until NJ government decided to take over the city. FAT WHITE LAWYERS ROCK!!!!!

If the government workers receive back pay and spend all those dollars anyway, how would the shutdown have cost us $24 B? I can see it costing several hundred million in tourism dollars and related, but $24 B? This must be a "regime" estimate or an OMB estimate. Same groups that said Obamacare would save us money.
