Yes, another thread with negativity towards Obamacare.

I feel like this should be a dupe because I thought I read about this on here, but I didn't see it on the front page.

    http://www.weeklystandard.com/blogs/warren-buffett-scrap-obamacare-and-start-over_756302.html?utm_source=twitterfeed&utm_medium=twitter

Warren just doesn't get what's best for the people, does he? It doesn't really matter what the people think they want, they don't know what's good for them. Obama and his administration clearly know what's best for everyone, we just have to assume the position is all. If you don't think about it, it might not hurt too badly.

No problem at all, Rick. I think really the point of posting is to just kind of show that the negativity revolving around Obamacare isn't just some partisan-thing, there are people from all over that are starting to see the wreck this thing is.

I was listening about it on rush a few minutes ago and planned on researching it. Thanks for posting and saving time. This is a no duh scenario.

For as smart as Buffett is he just wants to be liked. Until he sees the writing on the wall. At least that is the only explanation I can come up with regards to his support of obama...

Attacking medical costs isn't going to work.....hospitals and physicians won't buy into it. Lowering costs will cut into their profits.

There are many ways hospitals and physicians can lower rates and still maintain or increase profits.

In very simple terms, that not only apply to them, but all business in general, it's called improving efficiency.

One of my biggest problems with Obamacare has always been it's sheer size.

You might not think it will work, but clearly some people believe there are ways to fix the prices. Getting the companies to act more like car insurance companies could be a big way to do that. I realize that's vague, and truthfully, I don't know what it would take to do that - but that's the idea that I'm currently standing behind.

Exactly! It's not even close to a partisan thing anymore... now that people know what's in it.

Nana, what do you say to the thought that the people of this country don't really want the thing as it is? Is that okay to push it through anyhow?

    ???

I am attacking costs all the time if I can.

Getting the middleman (government/insurance companies) out of the way for smaller procedures and visits is how to attack the costs. Get control back to the patients and doctors and have insurance get involved for the big stuff.

But government is not interested in that and the insurance companies are fine with it for now in our quasi fascist system. They get to charge $70 to the patient and send the doctor $60 while having all the control. This needs to stop but will be really hard because people have been trained by the government/insurance companies...

Sure, I don't doubt that much of America, and especially people like Buffet who are already insured, would rather see costs attacked than access expanded. That really doesnt do much for the people that are uninsured, uninsurable or lack access. Besides, the ACA was a concerted effort to address costs and provide something approaching universal coverage. Of course people who like the status quo don't want very ambitious reform.

    http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2012-...h-law-is-step-to-fix-tapeworm-in-economy.html

Interesting seeing how Buffett supported the law as a way to control costs. This is a hard one to figure out because I am just not sure a man as smart as Buffett could have been this ignorant just a few years ago...

According to the OP, the comments in the article are from 2010. It appears he actually came around to Obamacare, instead of souring.
