If you are in the Longwood/Casselberry area. The wife wanted to try out the new Applebee's on 17/92 at the publix shopping center in Casselberry. We got to the door and the receptionist said they were training their staff tonight and they were serving free meals to friends & family of their staff. She said it was supposed to be by invitation only but they were serving everybody who shows up. She said to keep in mind they were training so there could be mistakes.

We were pleased, the food was good, service was great and best of all it was free.

I hear ya but I was plesantly suprised. I had a Bacon chedar cheese burger, fries and cheese sticks as an appetizer. The cheese burger was really pretty good, the fries were good too. The appetizer could have been better but hey it was free.

I actually think Applebee's low calorie meals are excellent (relatively speaking.) Surprisingly filling and while it may not be the best fare in the land, it's tolerable. I give them credit for offering decent meals that don't immediately erase a few days from your life.

I couldn't eat another bite. I had to stuff myself to finish what I had. The wife and I aren't big desert eaters anyway.

Just looked on Applbee's web site Cheese sticks 930 calories, Bacon Chedar Cheese Burger 970 calories, french fries 440 calories, 2 Pepsi's 200 calories. I probably didn't need desert. That's about a 2500 calorie meal.

Why wow? I have never had a good meal at Applebees. I've had plenty of mediocre reheated food that I could get at any other similar establishment. I'd rather just eat a sandwich at home.

Applebee's is the bomb. I take my lady there for date night. 2 meals, appetizer, and desert for 20$. Applebee's is the Nickelback of chain restaurants. You love it but its not cool to admit it. Lets here it for the neighborhood grill an bar.

What about karaoke night at Applebee's? I have heard the one in Sarasota off of I-75 and the other in Plant City are freak shows.

HA! At the Derby one year the free concert at 4th Street was Nickleback. Everyone in the group was all groan, blah, crap, etc. A few hours later we were all singing along disturbingly well and jumping around like maniacs.

    So uh, yeah, they're weak

Traveling across the southeast as I do, I tend to visit Applebee's a lot. They are often right beside, or adjacent to the hotel I happen to be staying that night--whether Birmingham, Atlanta, Savannah, Tallahassee, etc.

One thing they DO have a leg up on lots of places--$1 beer at many of their locations.

no way brosef... i am a fish snob, pensacola ruined me. I don't order any fish or shrimp at restaurants anymore..

You have to know your establishment. Bee's is great for burgers, chicken fingers, and salads... the stuff you can't possibly F-up. For appetizers.. wings, boneless wings, cheese fries, chips/salsa, nachos... If you go their and get a steak, fish, or something elaborate that they will have no idea how to cook, like an asian stir fry, you deserve a $hitty meal.
