He's getting the minutes I expected for the first few games. He has a steep learning curve. I expect come tourney time he'll be in the 12-15 range and only go above that if there is considerable foul trouble.

How did the NCAA string him along? He started playing as soon as the 12-game suspension was over. It sucks for Walker and we sure hate it, but I don't see how the NCAA is at fault here.

If I were a tattoo artist in a small podunk town and had a chance to ink a future NBA'er for free, I would.

I guess it was the lack of communication on what his actually punishment was.

Which would probably add on even more games to Walker's suspension. :)

Felt he was in better position defensively today. Saw him hedge well twice, didn't lose his man inside. No blocks but he seemed like he wasn't as confused nearly as much.

Well, let's see. He was admitted to UF and UF pays for his scholarship. The NCAA gives Chris Walker nothing but its rules prevented him from playing at the school he was attending and that paid for his scholarship. He was prohibited from going to the NBA under the collusion between the NBA and NCAA. Walker was prohibited from earning a living playing ball in this country or playing ball for at a college in this country - by the NCAA.

And why? Because he was an EXTREMELY poor kid with NO parents who took help from adults when he was NOT an adult or a student at an NCAA university. Much like Dominic Easely, this is a case of punishing a kid for surviving a horrible situation. Read the Walker facts and tell me he deserved that suspension compared to:
    - Cam Newton's dad takes over $100k for placing him at a University and is cleared by the ncaa to play in 3 weeks because "Cam didn't know".
    - Johnny Manziel as a CURRENT NCAA student signs thousands of autographs, claims not to know they were for making money, and is cleared to play.

The Walker case reminds of another NCAA case that prohibits a WALK ON from transferring to play at another school without sitting out a year! A no scholarship walk on! http://www.dallasnews.com/sports/co...ga-just-another-example-of-ncaa-hypocrisy.ece

Bottom line: The adults make all the rules and all the money and all the moves they want, with coaches free to come/go at the drop of a hat, and the kids are the cheap, controlled labor that make it all possible. The NCAA punished Walker less for what he did and more because it did not cost them money and they wanted to send a message to certain scouts. If it cost the NCAA money (a la Manziel or Newton) Walker would have played immediately. The NCAA is a joke and I hope the colleges leave its umbrella in an effort to restore sanity to the system.

I understand getting him up to speed slowly but I honestly don't see him lost enough to only get 4 minutes. I get the fact that we were in a close game but thats where I think he learns the most. With that said, Im no one to question a HOF coach so Ill just wait patiently to see him play more.

you can tell he is still nervous

but he has been pretty productive in the few minutes he's received

hope he understands the position Billy and the team is in right now with adding another piece to the puzzle so late in the season

Anthony Davis, Kevin Garnett, just off the top of my head. I'm sure we could make a long list of post players that were very thin when they entered the NBA (lottery picks/1st rounders).

Didn't see the game, just the box score and that was my reaction. Same point total as DFS who was on the floor for 21 minutes. I don't think 30 minutes will translate to 28 points right away, but eight or ten minutes over two stretches might translate to 10 points, four rebounds, a block or two and some needed rest for Young who is playing too many minutes and taking too few shots. Give him five or six minutes next game and gradually add the minutes over time and we'll have a potentially disruptive force off the bench be tournament time.

I saw him at the United Center last year playing against all those "diaper dandies" who are piling up the stats at good programs. He was only slightly less polished than most of them, but more explosive than any. No reason he can't pull close to those guys in his ability within another month.

I would like to see him get a few more minutes. Today's game, though, was an SEC dogfight for most of the game. Even when we got up 15, Bama quickly brought it back to single digits. Most of the game was close enough that Billy wanted to keep his first seven on the floor.

Guys, I might make a strong suggestion here. Unless you have evidence any of our players are taking gifts that they shouldn't be it would be a good idea to keep the thoughts to yourself.

Not sure what you are referring to as I've only perused most posts, but I believe any comment on benefits during Walker 's high school career is warranted.

I deleted the posts I was referencing. Had nothing to do with his high school days.

I should have put that in the post.
