Interesting draw. Surprised Mizzou and UF end up as 1/2 (4/5 overall) in the same bracket, but it's the weakest bracket IMO, so a final 4 is certainly possible. On the other hand, that is a pretty tough round 2 against FSU (ranked #16 but unseeded) - at least Mary was smart enough to bid to host that one...

Swept JU 3-0. Mallette DNP (injured?), replaced by Santos-Lamb.

Round 2 vs FSU tomorrow night

Underachieving finish for VB team. Did not look like themselves or play at a high level for most of the night in my opinion. This team should have at LEAST been in Elite 8, probably Final 4. Disappointing they choked away the opportunity.

They would have lost to Missouri in 16 anyway.

They have not matched up well with FSU of late, won 3-0 early in the year but IMO were a bit lucky in that one. It's a shame because they had a real shot to go deep in the tourney this year, next round would have been easier than this one.
Should be strong again next season, lots of returning talent

    This is really depressing.

I had a lot of hope for this team to go deep into the tournament. Although, had we won, we would have
gone into a regional with Missouri in it .... and the other teams (Wisconsin and Illinois) are tough as well.

Also, I absolutely hate to lose to FSU in ANYTHING. And they have beaten us in two of our strong sports ...
soccer and volleyball. My God, their soccer team is in the championship game!

apkgator is right; the team is fairly well loaded, but it seems like we end every year saying that. But .....
more experience for our talented young OH and we are replacing our all American MB with a 6'5" girl.

    Maybe next year .....

Same thing will most likely happen next year. We will be 1 or 2 in the SEC, and lose 2nd rd or sweet 16 in the NCAA. A lot like the soccer program, except VB never won a title.

Mary Wise is way past her prime. Just like Burleigh. Recruiting philosophy puzzles me. After being dominated by USC's 6'5 amazons 10 years ago in the championship game you figure Mary would take a page out of their book. We continue to recruit players who are 6'0 and 6'1. Amazing how we never look like those championship programs at Stanford, Penn State, Nebraska, etc.

Viewed the score last night and I would imagine there is some major shock going on this morning.

Considering the talent on the team and the type of season they had - certainly did not live up to what they should do in the postseason.

And this certainly does represent what has gone on for the entire athletic department during Fall season.

Volleyball and soccer have developed a habit of generating good records during the regular season but nothing happens in the post season as of late.

It is as if you get to a point of climbing the mountain and getting close to getting over the hump during the course of a season and then all of sudden you just run out of gas or mental fortitude.

They have the talent for next year but it would seem to me the mental aspects or the killer instincts of finishing off close games against the better competition needs better development.

I don't know what there is to say about this type of result - the word choke is a very harsh word to say because at some point any team in any sport goes through it. When you don't live up to your seeding then the season should be classified as a major disappointment and a lot of things need to happen in the offseason to prevent this type of outcome from happening again.

One of the freshman already signed is 6'5" and rated the number 3 recruit in the country. Check your facts before spouting off.
