Well, at least you're now a little bit closer to home.
Yep. 5 turnovers. Without which UF probably wins by two scores at least. I'll say it again, we aren't turning the ball over like that every game. Its like people don't WANT to see any positives in the offense. Apart from the turnovers, I say the offense looked improved.
Moaners gonna moan I guess. I used to think I was one of the most negative people here.
I agree that 5 turnover games are unlikely to happen often. However, simply saying that doesn't mean that it won't happen again.
I worry about why the TO's happened, because our better opponents will be looking at them and then trying to put our offense into a situation where they can happen again.
You can't deny that the Poodles knew what they had to do to get us on the ropes last year. Charlie Strong took notes and did the same. Now its happened again. Our achilles heel is exposed and others will try to attack it. Now, what will be done to prevent this from reoccuring?
As bittersweet as I feel about this, I have to agree. The SEC is more fun when the Vols are the Vols.
But then again, when that happens, we can all count on Vol fans suffering massive epidemics of Volsheimers, and the 2005-2013 period will somehow disappear from conscious memory.
Thanks for the warm response from everyone. I just try to speak the truth, even if it hurts. It also helps keep me sane and won't build up confidence on a sandlot.
Curt Maggit and Jaques Smith are being touted as back to 100%, so that should help our front seven out some. But we lost our most productive DT so far this season in Trevarris Saulsberry to a knee injury. Four to six weeks for him
Butch Jones has officially (publicly) opened the QB competition back up and has said if the freshman perform better in practice, he won't hesitate to start them.
There are a couple kinds of moaners--those that really are bothered by things the way they see them and are sincerely concerned and the others that are concerned, but they would rather see how much reaction they can get from their posts. When reaction on the football forums is not what they want they will go to the hoops forums and other places to stir the pot.
Those are the ones we work on getting rid of.
Gators win but until we've played five games there is no way to tell how good or bad we are.(this goes for all teams)
My only disappointment is that we did not improve from game one til game two...not a good sign.
I think it is OK. We have three more games to work out the kinks. The SEC season begins in ernest in Baton Rouge, and I think we will head into Death Valley 4-1. the stretch with LSU, Mizzou (who I think is improved this year), Georgia, Vandy (who I think has regressed), USCe and FSU will tell our story. By the end of the regular season, I can still see 8-4 or even 9-3. Who knows, with a little luck, we can run the table...
I look to see Nathan Peterman start for ya'll this week. He can run and has a strong arm, just doesn't have Worley's experience.
Holy Cow what a small world. I am in Daphne, AL but work over in Mobile. In fact we hired a Coast Guard guy not too long ago from Oregon. May try to hit you up in a PM to see if you two know each other.
Anyway, great post, and good luck after next two weekends.
Is there an echo in here?
Just be patient.
It looks like Davis, much like Muschamp at UF has been doing the previous two seasons, is re-building the Vols' program from the foundation up. It takes time and patience.
Here's to an in jury-free game Saturday too!
Agreed on both points, especially the last one! Only problem is its Butch Jones, not Butch Davis. Lol
Well, what a horrendously ugly first half, from both teams. Starting Nathan Peterman was obviously a mistake, but I don't blame Coach Jones after what we have seen the last couple weeks. Congratulations on the win.
Props to Tyler Murphy for stepping in and managing the offense. Sucks about Driskel. Hate to see anyone get hurt. I'll see you guys next year for the game, but I'll be in and out all year.
