I generally like Vitale and almost always defend him, but tonight he was beyond terrible. He was openly rooting for Kansas, only begrudgingly gave our team credit for causing them problems, and his inability to stop haranguing Wilbekin about the suspension was embarrassing. Once or twice, I get, but he couldn't stop talking about it.

The worst was down the stretch when a KU player lost the ball out of bounds, and Dickie was screaming for a foul. Even after the replay clearly showed the ball leaving the players hand without any contact, Vitale wouldn't shut up about it. A total joke.

he really wasnt that bad. im glad he called scottie out, because scottie is a baller and he needs to hear it from anyone and everyone that he's been an idiot. obviously he was a wiggins fan, and thats ok; wiggins is one of the most hyped college bball players in a while so its reasonable to expect that the TV viewing audience tuned in to see him play. that play when the KU player lost the ball then got fouled... was a foul. we dodged a bullet on that one( i think its karma after getting screwed on the travel by napier at uconn). anyway, as much as we would like to think it, the national tv audience does not tune in just to watch the gators play. they want to see the stars and vitale is catering to the audience. it really wasn't that bad.

Agreed. The fawning over Wiggins was too much.

I listened to the radio broadcast to avoid the announcing team.

Geez, I'm glad I was at the game and didn't have to hear him. His schtick has gotten old and he ALWAYS puts on the kneepads for the new hot players.

Dickie V only respects the big traditional basketball powers...
....like Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Syracuse.

He doesn't mind dumping on us just to make Kansas look good.
That endears him to the Kentucky crowd when he goes up there.

yeah he sure does, i can't believe that he mentioned the atmosphere at the game was great and loud. how dare he mention that billy D is a future hall of famer. he really must hate florida. holy cow, did you hear him mention our back to back titles, and program stability reaching 3 elite 8's in a row was impressive. cracks me up, people hear what they want to hear.

I've never been a fan of his and his constant slobbering over Wiggins made tonight no different.

The one thing I dislike about the new site is the "dumb" button. I mean, is it really necessary to identify something as "dumb" rather than simply disagreeing with it?

I like Vitale and he properly observes Billy D's exalted status in college bb pantheon. Many of you don't know what us older Gators remember about our BB team's legacy. I used to live across the street from the O'connell center in East hall. You could go to a basketball game anytime you wanted - just walk over there and walk in.

I hear people talk about the O'dome atmosphere and I marvel at what has been created in Gainesville. I will never take our basketball team for granted and I think that's what Vitale was referring to.

He threw a few jabs at us. I felt like he should have only mentioned Wilbekins suspensions once but he did it multiple times and even tried to make a joke of it saying he has the most suspensions in the nation like thats funny...

Also at the end he threw in a little jab saying Billy/Florida loaded up with cupcakes early on and are just now playing big competition.

It all started when whoever his partner was mentioned Florida being good and he tried his hardest to discredit us for a while.

I can't stand vitale ever since he ran his mouth on Tennessee radio about Joakim and Horford.

The "I bet he leads the league in suspensions" comment was a little much.

Dicky V is a staple of college basketball and cancer fundraiser. Sounds like a pretty good guy to me. :)

I've always wondered how this works. Isn't the audio off substantially? That would bug me more than listening to an inane broadcaster.
