Of course, that coincided with the best of the SOS Florida era as well. Good thing Manning didn't come to Tennessee in 1998...

If the line goes up, it is going to be because of positive news regarding Driskel's status. Otherwise, it likely isn't going to move much.

It opened at 15.5 in virgin islands and was quickly bought down to 14. That's money coming in on UT because they don't think we can score two td let alone cover two.

I think the follies come to play ball and will not be pushovers. If we score more than 24 points we win easily. But I think they try for a close, ugly game and teams that do that usually have the most success against us.

I want to say we win 28-13.

Jones will punt and punt some more. He will not take chances and hope that we keep them in the game by making mistakes.

I think he was actually practicing that game plan against Oregon.

Gator34654 I think you are wrong. I think President Machen wanted Urban, and was going to go all out to get him.

On the other hand, since PM did not have a relationship with Spurrier, and considering how Spurrier left, it was not so unreasonable to ask for a resume. In fact, UF being a state university, there is probably a process that has to be followed.

On the other hand, I do not know any more about the inside story than you, or anyone else on this board, knows.

We will never know how a Spurrier return would work. I lived in the DC area when he was with the 'Skins and it was not a pretty picture. He has had some success at USCe, but not at the level that would satisfy the Gator Nation.

    This.

Watch us win something like 34-6 and people go nuts on how we suck.

All the football illiterate, self entitled whining on this board is getting to be intolerable.

Second stints usually don't work out. It's just the way it is.

Something to consider; if Spurrier came back and was successful, we would still have to find a successor to him one day and have to fight the perception that our program only succeeded because of Steve.

Meyer's championships showed everyone that a coach (other than Spurrier) could win here and win big.

Did spurrier actually say this to foley or is it an urban legend?

This. Meyer was going to be the next Gator coach the day Machen walked through the door. Zook was dead man walking that same day. And I seriously doubt SOS said that about the trophy case. Sounds like an urban legend propagated by his many worshippers...

Tommy is right. Meyer showed that Florida is bigger than any single coach. Other schools still hang on to their legends. Saban has shown that Bama can be a modern day dynasty without Bear Bryant. I think the only two schools left that is hanging onto their Moses is Virginia Tech and Kansas State.

I don't trust our offense enough to seriously bet money on us. We're too inconsistent to be relied on.

That said, I've made a good bit of money betting against UF. I can't tell you the last time we've covered or the last time I've lost (I think FSU then LSU, USC last year). I'd take UT +17 as a gift. I have one rule regarding UF. Never, ever bet for UF. Either play the opposing team or don't bet at all. We have been horrible at covering lines the last few years. Yet, gullible sunshine pumpers keep pushing the lines up. This is not Urban Meyers run it up offenses of a few years ago. It is what it is.

You are kidding right? I believe you mean against our D. Ive got ways...

    1. Jd throws into triple coverage. Int rtn td.
    2. Jd fails to see a Blitzer running just to his right. Fumble rrturn Td.
    3. One of any of our offensive players fumbles the ball for no reason.
    4. Our left tackle thinks he should have played for turnstile U.

    I will take that bet.;-)

    Interesting spread.

UF had a week off while UT is jet lagged after a long trip to be abused by Oregon.

You would think that UF would be fresh, rested, healed and UT would be exhausted, embarrassed, humiliated and shell shocked... UF 31-13 is my guess.

If there was ever a game that set up well for UF, this would be it!
